The Montblanc Gold Leaf is such a beautiful pen! @InesF

Thank you! Indeed, it is beautiful and a bit more "loud" than I feel comfortable. But whenever I use it as working pen, it grows on me within some days. It has its own will 🤫, like a wild horse, and becomes a reliable tool. I always regret to put aside after some time in use.

:) Such a lovely combo.  R&K Sepia looks much more "normal" in your sample.  When I was reviewing it first as a "mystery" ink and then after learning its name, the green came through a bit more (or so my memory claims).  Whatever the case, it's on my list of inks to buy.  Enjoy your choices - even that Montblanc Catch-22. ;)  [...]

Thank you, @LizEF, you are highly welcome!

Some pens and some inks require a certain time in use to grow on you. While R&K Verdigris and Magenta were two instant darlings, both Alt-Goldgrün and Sepia (btw. these two combine excellently!) required extended use. Now I love them all.

(And I'm with you - "cigar" is just about the worst pen shape - makes me yawn.)

Maybe there will come the time when I start re-shaping not only nibs but also pens ... maybe. ;)

:) With music, I find that songs that I had to learn to like tend to be my favorites, whereas I more easily grow tired of those I immediately liked.  Perhaps ink is similar...

 You could become The Pen Recapitator! :P  Cigar-shaped pens will see you coming and tremble in fear! (Or look forward with great anticipation to the day they can finally discard their cone-shaped ends for something more stylish!) :D

Cigar shaped fountain pens remember me at: Every caterpillar 🐛 will once become a beautiful butterfly 🦋

I think, the "true" shape must, sooner or later, develop from an ugly intermediate! ;) :) 🤷‍♀️

For me as long as the pen writes well, I don't care what form it is. :D Though, I don't care for girthy pens and I gravitate towards thinner /smaller pens :)

It's time for October Challenge results.

Here is my interpretation of „Nature Retreats‟, drawn with the three main inks from October plus one additional ink:

I started to experiment with additional inks already during the second week of October. At first it was not more than the search for best fitting ink combinations for an upcoming theme. I liked to give Wearingeul Mad Hatter a second chance after I failed to like it in March 2024. It does look so much better when used with wet writing pens. The Pineider la Grande Bellezza was my first choice but the Lamy 2000 delivered the result I was hoping for. :)

Mad Hatter is now the fourth colour for the rest of October and will, most probably, stay during November. The Faber-Castell Ambition and the Lamy Studio got their last refill this week and will both fade out when they are empty.

In Season IV, I like to introduce a new documentation tool. I made small ink swatches with the fountain pens and will continue as the ink set changes during the calendar month:

So far for October, see you November 3rd latest with a report of the then current pens and inks.

Please feel welcome to post your creative October pieces, be it text, drawings or paintings or any combination! 👍

This is absolutely gorgeous!  And my favorite sort of nature drawing - ruins being the only man-made elements I enjoy seeing in a drawing of nature. :)  And it's a perfect fit - even the arch is retreating. :)  Thank you for sharing!

@InesF, your drawing is so lovely!  And @yazeh, yours made me laugh.  My day is doubly made, thank you both!
