Hello from Manchester

Hi, I came here to join and discovered I already had an account!

So I may have done an intro previously, but it must be many years ago.

I’m an absolutely newbie when it comes to pens. I just bought myself a Pelikan M200, and absolutely love it. However, all I have to compare it to is cheap 20?, 30? year old Waterman I picked up for a few quid in W. H. Smith.

Next step is to work on my handwriting 🙄.

Hi and welcome from the white rose county. Welcome to the club. I think myself and many of my profession must of being Dr’s in a previous life. As a collective our handwriting is atrocious. You’ll fit right in here.

I said something similar to ⬆️ that when I joined, which is now twelve years ago 😮

Sadly, my scrawl remains more akin to hastily-hewn Wraith-runes than it does to decent handwriting - but I have been given lots of very useful information on here. Not least pointers towards which books to buy to help me attempt to improve my scribbles 😉
If you are less lazy and indolent than I am - which would not be hard! - you will no doubt succeed in your endeavour.

I do though urge you to heed the following two warnings, which I foolishly pooh-poohed:

1- Pelikans tend to breed in captivity.
I got an M205 in 2012, and thought that it wouldn’t happen to me. I was indeed ‘safe’ for a few years. But, since the Covid-19 pandemic, my house has become the roost for a 1950s 400, a 1990s M800, a 1990s M400, and a 2020 M805 🤔

2- FPN is nobbut a hive of Inveterate Enablers - we they will be only too-keen to help you to spend all of your money on pens. And inks. And notebooks. And writing paper.

BWAhahahahahahahahahah!

Seriously though, welcome!
I hope that your M200 gives you many years of writing pleasure, and that your time here helps with, and adds to, your enjoyment 😊

Slàinte,
M.

I just noticed I said “hello from Manchester”…

I seem to have forgotten that I moved to Cumbria six months ago 😂
