There are people on FPN with much more expertise about Pelikan than me but I've never seen an M80X demonstrator with either a black cap or piston nob; I've only ever seen fully-transparent demonstrators. Maybe this is a release I'm not familiar with, or maybe it's a prototype or frankenpen.

I have a two chick 'silver' finial 805...early 2000's.

But with out a picture from the OP, I don't know what he wants to know.

OCArt looks like he did a picture, but the finial, is the Pelikan's at top of the cap.

Try to load into Imgur, which is free.

When loaded, click the second from the top link, and then here...The picture will show up.

I don't go chasing links...who knows where they lead??????? Paranoia is my friend....

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

This looks like a frankenpen to me.

Like... someone took the body of an M800/M805 Demonstrator and swapped in the cap and the piston knob/piston mechanism of any M805 with black cap/piston knob. Maybe the original cap broke and couldn't be replaced, so they decided to go with black on both ends. 🤷‍♀️

I’m not no expert, but I’m not so sure. Pen came from Germany with black section and finials from very early Pelikans. I think a store demo but I’ve never seen another.

This is a fascinating pen. I, too, have never seen this kind of model before (not that I am particularly expert). It could be a Frankenpen, I suppose.

Having said that, it could also be an unusual (unique?) creation, made by someone close to the company. These do pop up from time to time.

For example, at the 2022 Hamburg pen show I saw a Pelikan M800 in jade green, with all-original Pelikan materials - that is, the (OB) nib and furniture were all Pelikan, and the body and cap were made with the same material as was used for Pelikan's M101 “Originals of their Time” 1935 Jade special edition pen. Beautiful, but pricey.

In your case, perhaps you have a pen made off the clock by someone working at Pelikan, with left-over parts, for them to use privately. If I were forced at gunpoint to place a bet, then that's where my money would go.
