Nib Engraving/Montblanc 149

Hi All,

I've got a collection of Montblanc 149's - mostly Medium nibs 2/3 tone.

All work fine.

For some time now I've been wondering how the nibs are made.

I'm curious to know how the nibs are engraved with those Montblanc designs.

Are the designs stamped onto the nib when it's still flat- I would assume so?

Are the designs laser engraved?

I understand the business of stamping out the shape from ribbons of gold.

But of course rhodium is used as well. Is that "painted" on.

Then of course is the nib solid gold or is it plated 14/18k gold?

Fascinating stuff.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
