Agreed.  Although I was a bit surprised that the person who does that website didn't include Diamine Turquoise, ...

I found that some of the common black comparisons contained swatches that were more gray-ish than black, and some other blacks that I thought to be better comparisons, when selected, had different comparisons yet again.

Strange, yet interesting.

I do wonder what the criteria or algorithm used to find similar colors is, as some are spot on, and others  make me squint and tilt my head to try and see the resemblance.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Pelikan M300 CIF, Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I'm confident it's just some (weighted?) measure of distance in either the HSV or the HSL space as determined from the scan of a single swatch for each ink, with a threshold value beyond which an ink is not considered a match against the point of reference, and the sorted list of matches cut off after eight.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

And no accounting for metameric failure.

So...will Pilot introduce three new colours? That's exciting.

Will work for pens...

Thank you for articulating what I was thinking, but didn’t know how to say it.

I saw it on Reddit,  which @A Smug Dill just linked, but the graphics are easier to read Here .

Thankyou! I will be keen to acquire the blue Rikka for sure. And the Syun-gyo 'black with essence of red' sounds intriguing. Yeah, OK, I will try all three. 💙🖤🧡

The blue Rikka looks like it would go well with my Monteverde Mountains of the World K2 pen.

Can't say any of these did anything for me, but I'm still mourning for "the ink", Tsuyu Kusa, even if I stocked up.

Same here. I was able to get a couple of extra bottles.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Same, especially since now I know that the colors don’t always stick around, but I am most excited about the Rikka.

I'd have to see writing samples of all three inks in person, I suspect.  Sometimes it's hard to get a feel for what the colors are like on a computer screen.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Agreed. That surprised me too!   I have several bottles of Peacock, and I have come to appreciate Caran d'Ache Chromatics - Hypnotic Turquois a lot!

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Not much of an Iroshizuku ink fan, but I get losing a favorite. Once upon a time, I had a bottle of Levenger Pomegranate. Great sheening dark red. Discontinued, lucked into a second bottle (although only a partial), never found another. Closest I have ever found to it is Diamine Writers Blood. Much wetter than the Pomegranate. Although was discontinued several years ago, I finished the last of it off in the last year.

Darn. Wish someone who still has a bit of Pomegranate would donate a swatch to inkswatch.com - I'm a levenger fan, would love to be able to compare it to currently available inks!
