Pilot Retiring More Iroshizuku Colors

So I was reading that soon, Kiri-Same, Kosu-Mosu, and Tsutsuji will be gone. JetPens has already run out of the larger bottles of Kiri-Same and Amazon went from $15 to $30.  Kosu-Mosu $15 and change still on Amazon, Tsutsuji $16 and change. If these are favorites, buy now.

I thought Kiri-same was one of their more popular inks. Shame to see that go.

Last night, when it was still available on Amazon Prime, it was labeled a top seller, so I am also surprised. I think both greys are rather popular.

Seriously, how many more blues do they need?

Well, I  need all the blues, but not at the expense of these other nice colors.

Amazon had two listing for Tsutsuji, one for $27.46 and one for $16.59 (hurry, only 5 left!), so I grabbed that one. I had Tsutsuji once before and ended up giving it away but might as well have  a bottle just in case.

I just read that Stilo e Stile will continue placing orders for the color until production ceases at the end of the year.

I saw that notice.
It’s a shame for those who have tried and liked the colors.

It is, for sure. There’s something so soothing about seeing your favorite colors and writing with them. Having had my own favorite ink color discontinued, I can sympathize.

Can't say any of these did anything for me, but I'm still mourning for "the ink", Tsuyu Kusa, even if I stocked up.

I’m still buying random turquoise inks to find one that measures up to Sheaffer Peacock, so I get it, @senzen.

@Penguincollector I feel your pain, having discovered a cartridge of Sheaffer Peacock blue and installed it in a Sheaffer 100. I now need a a turquoise replacement ink.

I think I may have to go over all of my turquoise inks again and rank them all by which is closest.

Not much of an Iroshizuku ink fan, but I get losing a favorite. Once upon a time, I had a bottle of Levenger Pomegranate. Great sheening dark red. Discontinued, lucked into a second bottle (although only a partial), never found another. Closest I have ever found to it is Diamine Writers Blood. Much wetter than the Pomegranate. Although was discontinued several years ago, I finished the last of it off in the last year.

I tried Tsutsuji but don't remember what I thought of it.  Never tried Kira-same, but looked it up just now and it seems sort of blah....

As for Kosumosu?  I tried that one early on because it got all these rave reviews.  But I never got the pink to orange shading some people were getting.  Plus, on crummy paper, and under incandescent light, it was just such an obnoxious color -- kinda like overripe overripe watermelon.  So won't miss THAT one at all.

@senzen -- I'm in agreement with you over Tsuyu-kusa.  I never understood why it didn't get the love as Kon-peki (which I do like a LOT) Asa-gao (pretty color blue but the ink itself was super drippy).  Tsuyu-kusa was just such a restful color, without being too light on the page.

+1 here too.

At first I thought it was very close to regular Pilot Blue, minus the water resistance, but no, it's much subtler, vivid enough under some lighting conditions (some fluorescent lights), and yet it can also be quiet and restful like you say, and well behaved.
I'm out and haven't found a replacement. Maybe Diamine Aster, but it lacks lubrication. I am not even able to compare anymore so it's just in my memories now :D

As for the new discontinued colours, I haven't tried any and can't say I'll miss them. I find a bit curious that Pilot discontinues some to replace by others, especially when they already keep such a huge inventory of pens...or maybe they are discontinued for production reasons.

Agreed.  Although I was a bit surprised that the person who does that website didn't include Diamine Turquoise, which -- to my eye, anyway -- is pretty close to Skrip Peacock (especially with the "haloing" effect -- i.e., the darker shading edges to pen strokes).
