Looking for an Esterbrook Estie in Blue

I think it might have been called Blue Moon.  Anyone know it?

I just bought my first Esterbrook, an Estie Honeycomb.  It’s due any day now from Esterbrook and I am high on anticipation because the color so appeals to me.  I’m eager to see it!  And I’ve already got a yen to buy another.  I  happened to watch an Esterbrook video on YouTube where an Estie was mentioned and shown.  I thought the name mentioned was Blue Moon and I would love to own this one too. The problem is I can’t find one.  Can anyone confirm if there is an Esterbrook pen out there named Blue Moon?

Unless you are referring to the modern reboot of the brand, the original colors didn't have such fanciful names.  Blue was "blue" as exciting as that is.  That said, there is a wide variety of finishes on the original/ real Esterbrooks so finding one you consider Blue Moon is certainly possible.

PS: I've never seen an "Esterbrook Honeycomb."  Any chance you could post a photo.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I never found a Blue Moon pen, but I have found a beautiful blue Esterbrook with the  very lengthy name Esterbrook Back to the Woods Funky Lake.  It is my first pen with a Broad nib and it writes extra smooth and I love it!  It puts to shame the way Esterbrook Estie Honeycomb writes with its Medium nib in comparison.  I even bought a second nib in Broad for Honeycomb and it still doesn’t write as smoothly as Funky Lake.  It’s not bad, it’s just not as good as Funky Lake.

Here are photos of both these beautiful pens.

I guess I do like Esterbrook pens because I took delivery today on my 3rd Esterbrook pen, the Esterbrook Estie Incredible Rock.  It’s not that I need another pen but I couldn’t resist a brown pen.  Though to be honest it’s not my idea of a brown pen, but I decided to buy it anyway because I’ve been so happy with the way two of my three Esties write.  This latest one writes exceptionally smooth, typifying the expression writes like butter on glass.  It writes like my Funky Lake.  If only Honeycomb wrote that smoothly!

What are you waiting for?  Funky Lake is a really  beautiful blue!

That blue pen is very handsome, no matter what they call it.

There was, and has just been rereleased, a Cobalt Blue version of the modern Estie. It is shown on the Esterbrook website.
The Esterbrook Cobalt Blue is a marbled material similar in appearance to the old “Cobalt Glow” material used for the 1990s Sheaffer Balance II (but does not crack like such).  BTW, I have of of the first release Esterbrook Cobalt Blue FPs and half of the cap has turned purple.  (I wonder if that color change phenomenon is why they suspended making the Blue color?)

I could be interested in the Estie Sea Glass but the Cobalt Blue is too dark to interest me.  And while I presume that they have solved the turning to purple problem, I’d feel wary about that.

BTW, I am indebted to Esterbrook pens for teaching me that I don’t have to buy a pen with a gold nib to get a great writing pen.  Funky Lake and Incredible Rock with their broad Jowo steel nibs write like “butter on glass” and rival my Pilot Customs for smoothness.
