I see it available in Aliexpress just in white or black, with or without clip, at prices ranging from 25 to 30 €.

A direct potential competitor for Majohns A1, but still with a longer road to go...

The white model and EF nibs for both colorways sold out quickly but apparently have restocked at some stores. I snagged a black one at $12.42 USD, which I’m thinking may be closer to the stabilized price in a few weeks.

Looking at popular Jinhao models like the 82 or 100 in particular, we know Jinhao is likely to produce lots of different colors of any popular pen. If the pen is functional and popular, we can look forward to a rainbow of colors for this pen.

Absolutely no doubt about Jinhao's development potential!

I´ll keep a close eye on how this model evolves in the coming weeks/months.

THE a10 can be found for $8,$9, and $10 on Taobao.

The markup with shipping is ridiculouson Aliexpress. The pen is worth what someone will pay but just be informed the independent sellers on Aliexpress are pushing it with this first run.

I will update when I get my Taobao bulk shipment in.

I've ordered one from Aliexpress - a bit more expensive (for me) than US$10, but that's not surprising.  Hope it proves to be a justifiable expense!

I’m confident that it will be essentially as good as the Moonman A1, given what we (don’t) know about the intertwined nature of these pen companies. What are the odds these pens are produced by the same maker as the A1? Pen people closer to the scene will know but the only differences I see is the clip shape and lack of the Majohn/Moonman branding. I’d be surprised if the nib unit wasn’t identical as well. The Jinhao is 3 grams heavier—with the converter, so perhaps Moonman gives the weight without the converter.

The Bilibili reviewers have shown the A1 is 30.9g and the A10 is 33.5. The A10 as seen has a Jinhao branded Pilot Con-40 but everything else is the same. The parts of are as interchangeable as they were with the A1,2, etc and the Capless models. They put the Pilot/A1 catridge and catridge cover in the A10 and of course it worked as it should. It is the same pen courtesy of our Eastern pen godfather/mother/person HERO.

No need for speculation as the answer is Hero. The question is now is will Jinhao release a full catalogue of colorways or go water drip release route of Majohn with updates? No idea but it is the same pen. No idea what is adding the extra weight but the Bilibili reviews are saying it and showing it is effectively the same pen. Is there at least a M since Jinhao is involved? No idea as I saw this coming from Hongdian long before Jinhao upgraded from CC. At some point someone is going to offer some nib variety or Pilot effectively will maintain it's silent partner status as the keeper of Broad and above in the nib unit market.

Always great to hear information I can count on from you!

We’re all hoping for Jinhao’s typical rainbow of colors, I’m sure!

Given confirmation that this is essentially the same pen, I imagine we will see prices go down on the A1 and A2 as well.

I was away for a month with work and I missed this and the other recent releases so when I saw you all posting the prices I knew something was off.

It is a $8-10 pen. The independent sellers are doubling the price but it's an $8-10 pen in China.

I have a theory that band and inner nib stamping aside, that is an unsold batch of A1's they decided to rebrand under Jinhao. Same Matte black white and black. New paint jobs but same pen. They made millions of those pens during the initial A1 run and after the initial feeding frenzy, what do you do with the remaining inventory? You release it under another subsidiary.

Jinhao has never been in the exotic filling system market. The most exciting you could get before this was a captured converter from Jinhao and a faux blind cap. They did not independently have a epiphany and jump straight into the top replica turn key working model. Jinhao always had the skill buy this is not their lane.

Hero had too much old A1 stock and here we are. The benefit is maybe they unleash Jinhao and let them go dragon pen crazy with the colors and finishing.

Long-winded explanation that it's the same pen but that is a good thing. Jinhao may be the only way we get a medium nib at least.

And this still does not explain why not Hongdian?

I think, it will be around $20 as $20-25 has become the standard price for lots of pens. Perhaps cheaper when there are sales.

As long as there are no different metal pens than the fish-scale and lines from Majohn A1, I feel not teased.

Let's see if Hongdian follows with a retractable. That would be difficult to resist.

Could someone compare this with the data of a Pilot VP, please?

Jinhao 10 in stealth black arrived today. Other than the branding, the primary visual differences are the J10’s ‘Décimo’ style clip and the finish. The finish is an improvement, IMO, if it’s durable. The Moonman stealth A1 has a flat matte finish that shows smudges and fingerprints very readily. The J10 has a sparkly finish that minimizes visible surface grunge.

The nib and converter are branded Jinhao—the converter is something like the Pilot Con-50 with a miserably smaller ink capacity. The nib unit is a little askew somehow, with the nib coming out the trap door at a slight rightward cant—just off the horizontal, just enough to see but not disturb the opening parts. I’ve never experienced this with a VP or the Moonman retractables, but hopefully it’s just an early machining issue.

All in all, a nice pen at $12.50, and I like both the finish and more minimalist clip. I’ll ink it this evening and report back if there are issues, though that seems unlikely. large.IMG_0272.jpeg.ce6cecab2f37c3852cf65cdc1399595e.jpeglarge.IMG_0273.jpeg.130c22836f24a5ed16de7c09bb16c0c0.jpeglarge.IMG_0275.jpeg.00c69b0cfb784808d9cd1a6122e4171a.jpeg
