Acriv pens out of Mumbai

Dear Indian FPN members,

Have any of you had any experience with this brand and their products? I must confess the pens look mighty tempting, but most of all, their leather 'stacked' pen cases have me ready to pull the trigger.

However, not much is known-circulated-discussed around them. Could you please shed some light? 🙏

I've purchased a couple of pens from Acriv. Deliveries on both were delayed, for the 1st one by weeks, the 2nd one by 3-4 months. The pens weren't as "finished" as in the photos. Fortunately the 1st one (Kemet Desher, in pictures below) was an ebonite that looks decent still, the 2nd was a lacquer pen that was horribly done, with visible bubbles in the lacquer and flakes coming out, I don't have it with me anymore. Another thing to note, if you haven't noticed, the Ti nibs they come with are butterfly nibs, which are quite delicate. I like the Kemet because of the size and the nib, the ebonite feels good in hand and the microgrooves in the section feel good too. But I have heard lots of criticism about the nibs as well. This was around 3 yrs back, I hope they have improved since.

I found them in the Bangalore pen show last year and ordered an ebonite pen with a titanium nib, with a request for a custom grind to cursive italic. It took more than a month with multiple follow-ups before the pen reached me. I am fairly happy with the overall experience with the pen. I like the grind on the nib and the ebonite feels good in the hand.

The machining of the pen has some minor problems- threads are not smooth, and it takes more than 3 full turns to open up the body. Also, the pen didn't have an o ring despite it being an eye-dropper. But I can live with these. I do like the pen overall.

I saw this in your other thread of Indian ebonites, intrigued by its rustic charm and impulsively placed an order too. In fact i got a discount of Rs.500/ for the independence day. Now i hope that the pen will behave well whenever it arrives :)

This was an impulsive order after going through @metalhead review of Indian ebonites. While the pen looks beautiful, the nib was scratchy to start with. I had asked them to test it for smooth writing, but the result was not great. After a few strokes on fine sand paper, the result is tolerable. I couldn't appreciate the titanium nib, as it's stiff and behave like any other steel nib. The finish of the threads was not great and had some burr in the barre. As a result, the eyedropper was leaking though the barrel. I applied silicone grease. But am scared to travel with it and have kept it on my office desk. Despite the above complaints, the pen is a beauty to hold. But if you ask me whether i will buy another one, i probably may not.
