Parker 65 Cirrus Pattern Cloud Series?

Recommended Posts

I’m in a debate with somebody whether or not this is part of the Parker 65 cloud series. Based on the pattern, I believe it is, but I want to see if somebody else could assist. I’ve seen it on Heritage Collectibles website. They have one listed but their photo is a bit grainy so I can’t say 100% for sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello there 😊

the pen in those photos matches the (even more grainy) photo of a 65 Insignia in ‘Cirrus’ that is on the page for the 65 on Tony Fischier’s splendid website about Parker pens:

https://parkerpens.net/parker65.html

Perhaps more-reliably, the pen in your photos also matches the description of the decoration of the 65 ‘Cirrus’ on that website:

In 1975 the Classic model of Parker "65" were discontinued in favour of a new all 22c matt gold plated Insignia model named after a cloud, Cirrus. It sported fine, thin lines which gave it almost a brushed gold look.

Slàinte,
M.

So does that mean this is a Parker 65 Insignia Cirrus? This was labeled as such originally when purchased many years ago so I just want to be sure I have it labeled correctly.

Personally, I’d label it as a Parker 65 ‘Insignia’, in the ‘Cirrus’ finish from the ‘Cloud’ series.

It’s a Parker 65; the ‘Insignia’ refers to the line of 65s that were plated in 22k gold, and; the ‘Cirrus’ name refers to specific matte gold finish with lots of finely-incised lines.

I would mention the ‘Cloud’ series in order to distinguish this pen from those that were made in either the ‘Consort’ finish, or the finish that had finely-incised lines in groups of five.
(I have seen pens in that finish on auction sites, but I don’t know the name that was given to the specific finish).

Slàinte,
M.
