The Two Sides- A poem.

I wrote this a few days ago, inspired (And horrified upon reading of the tragedy) by @Andrew_L's post in the art gallery on July 8th (I hope it isn't wrong to mention you! I apologise if it's annoying). I normally write in a very set format, but I did something very different this time... I wrote the poem in a way- Readers will see that, of course... And then i picked three words from the paragraph and wrote them on top- They have been outlined with mediocre doodles.

I will also type out the poem (Minus the chosen words, and minus the format) because I know my handwriting is chicken's scratch.

Also, I doubt anyone will want to, but please don't share this anywhere else! Even with credit of any sort. (As for why I'm posting on an online forum if I don't want my things going about... Well, it's not that I want them to not go about, it's that I don't want them to go about. If that makes sense. Either that or I'm too sleep deprived to make this make sense.)

Please try reading the handwritten version first, 'cause the format's important!

THE ONE SIDE

I think that I would set the world

On Fire

but

for all the

Children.

I have remained ignorant far

Too Long

and

now I feel

Sadness.

I am now horrified at the

True Face

of

this cruel world's

Consequence.

THE OTHER SIDE

I beg the Masters to

Show Humanity

yet

there is killing

Always.

I know there is love to

Be Found

in

the smallest hollow

Thriving.

I think we can learn

Still Amend

we

must simply now

Step.

---

(The ending is abrupt, yes, I meant for this to be so to show that that 'step' has not, in fact been taken yet.)

Nobody important? Blimey, that's amazing. You know that in nine hundred years of time and space and I've never met anybody who wasn't important before.

Thank you for sharing these poems with us, I like them. It's also nice seeing your handwritten original. If I could write poetry I would be inspired to try writing one of my own, but it's best I leave the poems to people like yourself :notworthy1:

Ah, everyone with any way in words can write poetry! It just takes very different forms. I simply cannot write in rhymes, it ends up turning out like an obnoxiously cheerful 10 year old's writing. But I write the stuff nonetheless.

Could you read the handwritten original, though?

That emoji (Is that the right term if it's animated?) is hilarious.

There were some words in the handwritten copy I couldn't immediately decipher, so I am grateful you typed it out, thank you.

Ah yes, the effects of my chicken's scratch. I blame it on changing my holding style a couple years ago, but my heart knows better maybe...

Well, I could read it WAY better than my husband's chicken scratching....

Lovely poem, BTW....

ETA: I do MUCH better writing poetry (and my meager attempts at fiction) WAY better with a pen on paper than typing/keyboarding.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you so much!

Also, exactly!! Writing is so much more expressive on paper. Poetry, almost always paper for me... I have to type fiction though, I write more in volume that way- Also my hand hurts lots when I write long paragraphs continuously, which is how my fiction writing sessions go.

Also ..I apologise for sounding ignorant, but I'm terrible at typing short forms, and I'm fairly certain ETA doesn't mean 'Estimated Time of Arrival' here... heh
