Non-Lifetime two-tone Oversize Balance?

Hi all,

 

I am rather new to the world of Sheaffer, but have wanted an oversized Balance for a while. I have found one for a particularly good price, but it does not have a “Lifetime” nib. Instead, it’s a two-tone nib inscribed “Sheaffer’s Reg. U.S. Pat. Off., Made in USA, 14K.” Otherwise it is clearly an oversize Balance lever filler with the white dot on the cap and a plain clip. Would any oversize Balance have had this nib from the factory (and is the quality any different from a Lifetime nib?), or should I assume this is a later replacement?

A picture is always helpful to clarify what is being discussed. I think that a Balance Oversize with a white dot on the cap should have a Lifetime nib indeed. Balance Oversize pens without the Lifetime nib exist but these came with a 5-30 nib and these were non white dot pens.

Non-lifetime balance OS does exist, they fit with 5-30, No.7 or No.8 feather-touch nibs, with non white dot at the same time.

Otherwise, a replacement nib will be more reasonable.
