Looking for a pen case like the Nock Brasstown (that's no longer available)

There are lots of rollable pen cases out there, but I really like the one Nock Brasstown zippered pen case that I have... and I'd like to get another one, but Nock no longer exists. I've searched with no joy... Does anyone know of any pen cases similar to the Nock Brasstown? (or a secret source of a Nock brasstown case)

The brasstown has separate "slots" for each pen and then rolls up inside a fairly small case that's closed with a zipper. Most other cases are roll up with some strap or band around it holding it closed. Here's what the brasstown looked like: https://www.jetpens.com/Nock-Co.-Brasstown-Pen-Case-Navy-Blue-Red/pd/25934

Thanks

Have you looked at the Consise Bellows zippered pen case? It’s also at JetPens or Amazon.

Thanks, I hadn't seen it before (despite LOTS of searching).

However, it doesn't have a separate protected "slots" for each pen - so as you roll it up, some pens are going to rub up against other pens which is something I'm trying to avoid. That style is fine for ballpoint pens or $10-20 pens, but not ideal for, say, a Nakaya.

That's not difficult to make. Fiddly, but not hard, if you sew or know someone who does.

Will work for pens...

That’s the closest roll I have seen. I will keep looking, as that’s a neat concept. I would maybe try talking to Mark Dwight of Rickshaw bags about a custom zippered roll. If there’s a pen show near you, he’s usually there, or try his email on the Rickshaw website.

Not difficult for you, maybe....

Years ago I tried borrowing my wife's sewing machine to make a case (not for pens) and learned that sewing is not my thing... to be polite about it.

Oh, I'll mention it to Mark when I see him at the SF show, but I doubt he'll make 'em. He does make some of Nock's cases, but I don't recall Mark making any pen cases with a zipper ( I could be wrong). I'd guess that adding a zipper raises the cost (parts and manufacturing) too much.

I keep getting this IG ad for a Japanese company called "&Liebe".  They have this leather roll pen case that I thought looked really classy.

Thanks... It does look classy.

For 6 or 8 pens, though, leather is just too thick and heavy -- it'll make a far too large/thick roll for my "desires" (can't say "need" for many pen things, can we?).

This is really nice! I might have to look into these.

I saw your posting as I was packing one of my Brasstowns for a week-long trip. I am glad I got a second one when they were available (many years ago). I have a shamefully excessive collection of pen cases, but, when I travel, especially by air, I end up taking a lighter weight case and one that is more compact. The Brasstown fits the bill, and I have not seen another design close to it. My other favorite has been a Visconti 6 pen case, but it is pricey.

I agree with the poster who suggested talking to Mark Dwight. Show him your Brasstown and tell him you want to order a gross of 'em. 😜

On the light weight, compact, high capacity case front, my latest discovery is one by a company named "Kyoku Haku."  I have seen them for sale only on the stileestile web site. I bought a 10 pen case. It is well made, seems as protective as the Brasstown and is smaller and lighter than most 6 pen cases. I then bought the 20 pen model, proving the validity of "shameful" (see above). Anyway, here's a link to my newest favorite: https://www.stiloestile.com/en/pen-cases/kyoku-haku-pen-case-for-10-pens-dahlia-yellow?_gl=1*rv3axh*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTk3MzgxOTcwLjE3MjE4NDE2Mjg.*_ga_4LKVJ3WF5Q*MTcyMTg0MTYyNy4xLjEuMTcyMTg0MTY1MC4wLjAuMA..

I can recommend this vendor for assortment and rapid shipping. (No affiliation)

Happy writing.

David

You can buy cases just like that on sites that sell Chinese made items. Also, any leather worker or leather holster maker (cowboy, tactical, EDC, etc) can easily make those.

Well, before posting this topic I *did* try AliExpress... and couldn't find a case close "enough" to the Nock Brasstown. If you saw one, please let me know a URL or some way to see what you found.

And, as for leather, I have and love several leather pen cases, but for something like this case the material has to be much lighter weight / thinner than leather.

At the SF open show, years ago, I bought a pen roll with a slot for each pen, made of fabric.

I don't remember who made it, but the Mrs Newton makes pen cases in the same manner, fabric, with a slot for each pen.

If the design below is not your style, she might be able to make a custom one.

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

Thanks. Nice looking roll.

There seem to be quite a few pen rolls, but none that roll up inside a zippered pouch like the Brasstown did.

At yesterday's Pen Posse at Rickshaw, Mark Dwight told me that he's already working on doing a version of the Nock Brasstown. He said he's deconstructed one and his version will be ready "very soon". Woo Hoo!

So, if anyone gets a notice from Rickshaw that their Brasstown's available, please post it here.

Thank you for posting the update from Mark Dwight. I knew he had made an updated Nock Sinclair pen case with zipper. Thanks to this post, I might will be interested in what Rickshaw comes up with based on the Brasstown.
