This celluloid lever filler was from the waning years of the venerable Paul E. Wirt Co  of Bloomsburg, PA.

This is one large and showy pen from just prior to the Great Depression. It’s fun to imagine some business tycoon signing papers with this dramatic pen.

Beautiful pen.  How does it write?  Those big Wirt nibs were amazing.

Now you get to look for an original Paul Wirt base to go with it.

I’ve only been able to dip test it at this point. It is a nice writer. Plenty of flex. A bit scratchy on the upstroke, but I’m accustomed to Parker and Sheaffer nibs.
I anticipate that finding a base will be quite the challenge. I’m not sure what Wirt bases even looked like. The barrel is threaded for a cap, so I presume the desk base would be threaded as well.
