Adjust a Parker 21 nib and feed

I have a desk pen with a badly aligned nib and feed.   It has a flat nib under that good.   Is there any good way to do this externally or will I need to remove the sac and knock it out?

The pen writes well but the alignment makes it all sorts of tricky as the pen needs to be rolled slightly from center.  My brain hurts to use it!

I'd appreciate any advice

I have never worked on a 21, but on a P-51 you would take off the hood to adjust the nib to the feed. Maybe the material in a P-21 is much softer than on a 51? Maybe there is a different approach to the P-21...

Ask the question in the Repair sub-forum, and maybe you will get advice from someone who actually knows the 21.

Pen shown is missing the clutch ring assembly.

Oh is it? This is a desk pen.   It seems to fit fine into cap holder.  PXL_20240525_134221537.PORTRAIT.thumb.jpg.83be7222807938e5749698ad23f0cea5.jpgPXL_20240525_134200448.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.thumb.jpg.580fc3afbe5623f5bdf58b75d790dd77.jpg

As FarmBoy said above, the pen is missing the clutch ring separating between the hood and the barrel.

Ok so the hood is twisted on that much further then and that's why its not aligned.    I understand now.

I'll keep my eye out for a doner pen then before I attempt to open it.

Thanks

It looks like the nib is not aligned to the feed, and the hood is not aligned to the nib. That should be easy to fix once you get the hood off...meaning that even I have done it on a Parker 51. And note my warning about the material in a P-21...experts like FarmBoy can tell you if the P-21 hood is much softer than a P-51.

For a clutch ring, contact the good folks at Five Star Pens. They carry all sorts of good things, like nibs and parts. They do not advertise P-21 parts, but they might well have them.

Thanks for those links.   I've made an offer on a desk pen.   Though it might be easier then taking this one apart.   I'm sure one day a broken parker 21 will show up.   I don't see me stopping restoring pens any time soon.  It's too much fun!
