Transitional Relief or J variant? Does anyone know this model?

I’m assuming this is likely an English J, or possibly a later Relief, but I’ve never seen one like it before, so was interested in anything more I can learn about it, what year, model name, etc. is anyone familiar with these?

The shape and feel is similar to a J, with gold plated furniture. The imprint is:“Esterbrook” (nothing else)

“Made in England”

It has a (later?) Relief nib - which tells us little really. Overall a pleasant pen that reminds me of both its better known siblings!

This model was called the Gold Relief.  Late '50s or early '60s?   I have one.   It's a fun little pen.

Thank you so much @gweimer1!

Yes, I’m finding it to be a real delight - I’m very fond of all the Reliefs. Wonderful nibs, and pens with a simple yet also somehow extremely pleasing design. Glad to be able to name and place this one in time - much appreciated!

Late I know.

I believe these were sold in the UK as an "M" Model.  They (should) have a screw in 14ct Relief nib fitted, and tend to attract decent prices this side of the pond.

Not like the earlier relief models, they were not made by Conway Stewart.

@gweimer1 what a great source! What is it?

Among one of my won auction lots was a UK brochure from 1962.

And one should note the colors offered. No fancy names like those proclaimed elsewhere.

Well, they did get a little fancy with the M2 colors.
