Parker 45 or 51

I used a Parker 45 in school over 50 years ago. I still have the pen, and have bought quite a few more Parker 45's over the years and use them.

I would recommend a 45 in preference to a 51 as a school pen.

I'm fond of both the 51 and the 45 (as well as the 61) and have many of each.  In the 51 line, I prefer a working vacumatic but appreciate a nice aerometric also.  In the 45 line, I prefer the ones with the plastic bodies and metal caps and never have had a problem with cracks or deformations, but I never leave pens in cars on in other hot conditions.  In the 51 line, I have obtained an authentic Mark III with C/C and a couple of customized ones with the C/C system (from Kullock and Bexley) with body colors not found in the vintage 51 line.

Lucky you. Congratulations. In my day only a very lucky few schoolboys used Parker 51's in school.
