Do you have trusted sellers for MB pens?

Sometimes it is not easy to find a seller that you trust. With all the warnings of fakes, where do you buy your used Montblanc pens?

As mentioned above, Appelboom for new, as well as Montblanc Tyson’s Corners, and Fritz Schimpf.  For used or vintage, I have used Izods, Penboard.de, and eBay sellers Berlin-Collectibles, WaSuPen, and Best Fine Pens (their inventory seems to have shrunk dramatically this past year).  As a repeat customer for Izods and WaSuPens, I have received discount coupons  (Izods) or discounted prices.  WaSuPens and Berlin-Collectibles have also readily responded to reasonable offers as well.  I have not been disappointed with either the transactions or the pens received from any of these sellers, which were exactly as described and several times even better than expected.

While I have never purchased a MB from Peyton Street Pens, they always have a few of them in their inventory. My experience buying other pens from them over the years has been excellent.  If you peruse their offerings of any pens, you’ll find they are carefully described and well photographed.  They seem to pay careful attention to any defects in the pens, and take care to photograph those blemishes/defects so you know what they will look like on delivery.  They also make minor repairs on some of the pens, and these are also carefully pointed out.

In general, I count myself fortunate in my online pen purchases.  If I have encountered problems, it is almost always with my local post person’s “reluctance“ to leave their vehicle and come to the door for a signature.  I’ve never had any significant issues with the vendor or their shipping.  One caveat on international sales I always feel is worth mentioning.  If I’m purchasing any pen with the word “tortoise” in the name/ description, I always ask the seller to avoid using the word tortoise in the shipping/customs/ invoice paperwork.  A few years back there was a thread here describing a disastrous international purchase in which the pen was made of a faux tortoise shell material used in a relatively rare pen.  IIRC, the item was confiscated by Customs (again, IIRC, UK).  This occurred despite an accurate description of the item as faux, and the buyer was never able to wrest it from Customs despite providing provenenace of its faux origins.

That is a great tip as well and it looks like this could happen again at any time.

Thank you!

Jomashop.com has decent prices on genuine pens but it will be without warranty.

Thank you, I bought watches there and did not even know they sell pen!

Truphae is a very good dealer for new and used MB. Chris Henline is a good guy. I bought a used 149 from them recently and it was a fine transaction.

All above mentioned sellers are pretty solid. I’d like to add interpens.de from Germany. A lesser known repair shop that sells used pens. Prices may be a bit on high price but still okay.

All these other sellers are very good from what I have seen, although one I would like to add is Berlin-Collectibles on eBay. I got a Montblanc 22 from him and its in spectacular shape and writes like a dream. He also has a expansive collection of many other pens available (over 1000 if I remember correctly)

Good evening everyone, wow it has been a long time since I have been on here.  Last time I was on here I had recently gotten into Montblancs and was very excited about some recent purchases.  Life I guess gets in the way but that as not stopped me from using and enjoying these pens on a daily basis.  I need some advice though.  I purchased a rose gold 149 brand new from Montblanc and a limited edition Beatles pen, both fountain, both new from Montblanc.  I use a black 146 and a glacier edition 146 almost daily.  The rose gold I have never been able to put ink in it and use it as I just think its too nice to use, same with the Beatles pen.  I know this sounds silly but they have sat in my safe for several years now, dark and lonely (humor intended). but honestly I just can't bring myself to use them.  I tried a couple local watch/coin shops and was insulted at what they offered.  I belonged to a wetshhaving forum for years and I know forum reputation goes a long way, one I do not have here.  I find myself looking to move these two pens to a good home and someone that will use them but I refuse to take a bath on them.  I don't need to sell them just feel moving them to a home that will use them is the right thing to do.  I have receipts, I can FaceTime or send pictures for verification.  Does anyone have any advice? Mods if this violates the rules or is in the wrong section please let me know, I mean no offense.

Just to throw a couple others out there, I've recently done some pleasant business with Mike Carter at FountainPenRecycler.com - he's a good source for oddball parts and obscure inks as well, though the inventory isn't always vast. I recently traded him for a lovely 20-ish year old 149 M-Flex. Usually has one or two nice LEs in as well - all pre-owned. Also does some repairs, though I've not had any work needed fortunately.

Have had good service from Appelboom as others have mentioned, and for other pre-owned I've heard only good things about Chatterly Luxury, though I've yet to pull the trigger on any of their offerings (they tend slightly higher, IMO).

In Europe Casa della Penna has always offered first rate customer service, and they often have harder to find pieces, but they have the prices to match - I have not yet bought an MB from them.

Thank you @kik595. The FountainPenRecycler looks great. Always learning something new!

Hope you find something cool - one small tip though, ask/remind for extra wrapping when ordering inks - he's a bit on the older side and can forget bubble wrap on bottles now and then! Pens have always been immaculately packed. :)

If you're only looking to sell one or two pens but are willing to go through multiple verification steps the reddit penexchange forum might be the spot for you, particularly if you have a reddit account of any history/length.
