Visit to Hakase and orders

Mew

Recommended Posts

While I have ordered Hakase pens before, starting from September 2022 till February 2023, I ordered a series of pens all set to be delivered in March 2024. While I also visited the workshop in January 2023, but never wrote a thread about it, I did order a pen there. Today, all of them were delivered together. :)

To say it must have been exhilarating to receive all those wonderful, beautiful pens at once is a huge understatement! From my standpoint it is even a little overwhelming just looking at your photos.

I have 'window-shopped' (i.e. daydreamed) at Hakase's website, wondering which one I would pick to order and have found it an impossible task so far. It seems you found a solution to that problem ...

Really, each one of them is stunning. A whole lot of enjoyment is in store for you, I'm sure.

Thank you, it was fun unboxing all of them. I really like how the sandalwood turned out. Now I have both the red sandalwood and yellow one.

Next year around this time another batch of 6 pens is scheduled to arrive. Looking forward to that too. :)

@Mew

Which ebonite did they use for the grip sections of the buffalo horn pens?

Thanks

That’s an impressive haul! Please keep updating this thread with your opinions as you try out the pens; I’d be interested to hear what they’re like!

What is the tactile experience of a pen made from horn?  For example: when I got into FPs I read comments from people that ebonite is warmer in the hand and they prefer it (or dislike it) for that reason.  It seemed silly when I read it, but of course I later discovered that they were right, and now frequently find that when I look at a new pen I automatically think "does it come in ebonite?"

@XYZZY - well the part that you are in contact with most of the time, section is still made from ebonite. But I wonder how would a section made from buffalo horn feel. Probably threads would be difficult to cut.

I order my Amboyna Burl Urushi LE 30, it's so beautiful. May I ask  how long is the dimensions of this pen. I choised 134mm wiyhout cap.
