I am a sucker for meisterstuck solitaires. part of my collection(have a few more meisterstuck solitaire ballpoints and a rollerball). I Like the orange legrand solitaire and the 145 olive green doue … the full olive green reminds my of a pilot pen more than montblanc with the new clip.

the orange reminded me of poa Guggenheim 888 edition in similar colours …

Have you had a chance to check the price of solitaire legrand(orange)? @admmarcos

Oh, wow!

Well, I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest boutique is about 1000 miles away!

So, I'll have to wait for it to show up online - the problem is that buying online it is a hassle to change the nib, since I have to buy a medium and then send it in (I'm thinking a BB).

Does anyone know if authorized dealers (not boutiques) will also carry those?

(they didn't carry the Orient Express).

Hi Lam1:  Since they are in “high demand” I used the pictures and then spoke to a Canadian Boutique that is four hours away to ask questions and placed my order.  They have The Origin Collection catalogue and will give you all the information you need to decide.  A BB or OBB sounds great but I’m still not sure which one I will get.

The authorized dealer near me did not get any of the Pre-Release training or the Catalogue.  They were told that after the release they will only be able to offer the resin models for sale.  I’ve ordered from both before and you have the option to order for example the “medium” and then have the boutique send it out for the complimentary nib exchange to get your BB.  I receive it with an M then you still have six week (?) for the exchange.

The thing about online purchases that I want to avoid is that I was told there would be additional import taxes (at least for my country).

Hi Vikrmbedi: The Doue LeGrand in coral that you are asking about is offered for approx. $2,580 US where I am in Canada.

@DimitriDiak Thank you for the detailed information!

I have contacted a dealer from whom I have ordered before and he told me that they will have the 149, which is the only one that interests me (since it is a resin one, it matches the info you have). So, I will put an order with him as soon as I figure out if BB is what I really want.

I''ll probably ink the 146 I have with BB and B and play with them to see what I really want.

As for ordering online, I don't have any option.

If ordering from MB directly, I don't pay taxes but then I have to pay shipping and insurance both ways to exchange the nib, since they only sell M and won't exchange the nib before delivery. If buying from abroad, I pay taxes if the total cost is above $800, but it is still less than the cost to send it out to exchange the nib (and I don't have to go through the hassle of dealing with the nib exchange!!).

So, its a no brainer if the pen is available from dealers.

It has now been confirmed to me that only the Classique size will come in green. Shame.

Your country may have no Pre-release information an opportunity to pre-order as was the case with our boutique.

I hope their production will meet the demand so we don’t have to make quick decision about which one to get.  I’m sure there will be other releases throughout the year for this anniversary.

I just returned home after visiting a store where they had the Le Grand Doué, the resin Le Grand, and the green Classique. For me, green is the choice because it's not usual to see this color in the release of MB pens. Also, this is more affordable than the others. Anyway, I believe it's too much money for small changes in the model, although I enjoyed the green one (maybe I will get one in the future. There is no rush to buy it for now).

So, the green, is it two different shades between the two model types or is it the same green? The previous photos seem to show one lighter and one darker. Is it the same just that one is under a stronger light?

Hi JCC123.  The Doue Classique and the Precious Resin Classique appear to be the same green as shown in the sneak peak photos.

I believe it was the light difference between the photos. I suppose that as for the doué and resin, they are based with the same colors (blue and green). I was able to compare the blue Doué in resin and they have the same blue in the body. The difference in the resin is that the caps are marble-like resin.

Spoke to the closest boutique today here stateside and was told:

Expect first pens in U.S. shops/availability April 1st (week of)

Resin models:

Classique - $935

146 - $1040

149 - $1300 (aprox, and apparently coming in later possibly)

*Had to check my notes on the Doue models.

Acc to them expected price is:

Classique: $1600

Blue Legrand: $1700

Coral Legrand: - they did not have pricing on this one yet and openly said availability 'may' end up being limited/allocated, so $2500+ definitely seem about right ballpark IMHO.

According to the SA another new solitaire will also be released slightly later (or so they've been told) and they do not have pricing yet.

Above figures in USD.

They were certain of price on the classique and legrand resin, fairly certain on the Doues, and slightly hesitant on the 149 - perhaps that's already the higher demand model for allocation?

I know I'll end up getting one (I actually quite like the design of them, by and large, albeit obviously not for everyone) - for me, almost certainly in resin...

I am seriously considering to get the Classique because I like the green colour. But I will need to see this pen in-person at my local Montblanc Boutique before deciding whether to open my wallet for the purchase.

I believe that the Classique  versions will not be exactly "flying off the shelves". Thus, I will probably have some time to decide on the purchases.

My eyes tell me to go for it (the Classique) but every memory of my hand holding a 145 in the past is telling me 'Don't get anything smaller than a 146, dummy!' - joys of big paws I guess. :)

Hi kik595.  I can confirm the price of the Solitaire LeGrand in coral per my above message since it was available to me for a pre-release order in Canada for $2,580 US.

I however went with the resin 149 (M) and the Duoe LeGrand (F) and will probably get the complimentary nib exchange when the time comes.

I'm debating between those two myself (picked up too much neo-vintage already!) and will likely do a swap to a BB - oh how I wish the trible Broad was* still a normal factory option! In a 149, fugghedabudit!

A BB would be nice and I’m thinking of an OBB myself but my favourite are the EF or if it were available an EEF.  I have a 149 with an OBBB from 1952 and it will take some practice to get use to the oblique.  I think the modern ones have less of an oblique so I would love to try one.

FPN member BoBo Olson has recommended a hack for writing with oblique nibs, however, it requires knowing of you have a 15 or 30 degree oblique.  It works for me, and I’ve provided a link to his hack below.  The pertinent part begins about halfway down the page beginning with “To have the nib sit….”  The post is worthwhile reading about differences in oblique writing experiences depending on the width.  Wider obliques are considerably easier to write with, as their “sweet spot” is wider as well.

Metal filling knob is an automatic no for me. Will not last...resin will last 100+ years. The plating...not so much...
