I was surprised to read your comment about awaiting a 149 Origin.  It prompted me to have a look at the Montblanc website. 

From reading posts here during 2024, I was under the impression that Montblanc would not continue to sell the pens from Meisterstuck 100th Anniversary "Origin" Series in 2025.  However, they are still all there and listed for sale on the MB website.

Does anyone have any updated information?  Are they still taking and fulfilling orders for them?

@fireant Although it is dismaying to hear that an anticipated availability of The Origin 149 in November has been delayed two months, I am pleased that you were able to find a Soulmaker Starwalker (ident 38301) that we had discussed back on 14 October at a good value price.  How serendipitous!  Congratulations!

@Seney724 I am afraid that I was one of the posters for this piece of evidently inaccurate information.  According to a boutique manager, Montblanc did not plan on producing The Origin Collection after the 2024 calendar year, and thus it was generally presumed that when inventory was depleted, sales would cease.  Apparently, either inventory is not yet depleted, or the boutique manager is mistaken about The Origin Collection production schedule, or both.  I will attempt to inquire of that boutique manager in the coming days and report back.

Actually @NoType the information you provided may be 100% accurate!

What is for sure is that  the inventory of these pens was not depleted.  So it makes perfect sense that Montblanc has opted to continue selling them as opposed to withdrawing and destroying the remaining pens.  And, thus, your statement is perfectly correct.

 

What is totally unclear, however, is whether or not Montblanc is going to continue to produce them.  Whether the information the Boutique Manager provided you relative to this question is accurate or not remains to be seen.  Please let  us know what you glean from him (or her) after you have made contact.

 

My guess is that the Origin pens will continue to be actively listed and sold until the inventory is depleted.

Provided Montblanc has made (or has planned) delivery for all of the pens which were ordered during 2024 their actual production may have already been halted.

@Seney724I'd ordered the pen eariler this fall and asked for an OBBB nib, they sent the pen off to Montblanc and are awaiting it's return. Per Sebastian's email they have some in stock I believe.

@Seney724 I think I answered this, but in case it's confusing. I'd bought/purchased an Origins 149 in the fall and requested an OBBB nib through Fritz Schrimpf and they sent off my pen for the nib exchange. So the pen already belongs to me if that makes sense? I think they are waiting for other replacement nib pens but I can't say 100% it's just the feeling I had reading his email about the pen status.

Many thanks for this important clarification @fireant.  Yes, it all makes sense  now.  Over 2024 there have been several posts here by folks who acquired an Origin pen and had it sent off for a nib exchange.  I do not recall one where the "turnover"  time was less than a month.

 

I agree, you "own" the pen.  So regardless of whether or not MB continues their production of them, you are assured of having one.

We will all look forward to your report of its arrival at your home.

Unfortunately, all my efforts to protect the Meisterstück Traveller 1924 before turning it in for its complimentary nib exchange to O3B came to naught when the cap inexplicably escaped my fingers while I was showing the nib to a neighbour in the parking garage, skittered in front of the tire of a work truck, and then was pushed by its clip across a short expanse of the garage’s rough concrete floor when the truck moved away, eventually being crushed as the truck’s tire finally rolled over it.  We had been fruitlessly searching for the errant cap behind parked vehicles nearby and were just approaching the truck when its operator drove away.  Immediately after, a sickening crunch could be heard and then we both knew that the cap had met a cruel fate.  

 

I retrieved the remains, photographed the ruined cap next to the intact pen body and nib, 

and then sealed the cap in a small plastic ziplock bag to take both it and the rest of the pen to the boutique for what turned out to be slightly more than a complimentary nib exchange:

 

Such was the shock of the boutique associate and my own discombobulation that neither of us noticed the minor errors on the printout above (“LE1906,” “BB,” “3OB,” absent limitation number) during the visit.

 

Also, a cost estimate for replacement of cap, derby, and clip was not available at that time.  Unfortunately, it will undoubtedly prove to be a significant amount.  I had originally intended to wait until I received notice of the estimate before creating this post, but as a week has now already passed, I thought it best to create a follow-up post when the amount is determined by Montblanc Service.

 

Obviously, to say that I regret removing the pen from its factory seal before taking it to the boutique for its complimentary nib exchange would be a gross understatement.  As would be any remark to the effect that I have surprised myself by demonstrating this level of clumsiness.

Ouch, but you’ll get a new cap and all should be well. It should thread smoothly onto the pen, perhaps even better than before. How the M write ✍️ if you inked it up.

 

You initially wanted a BB, but changed your mind and decided to go all the way for the O3B?

 

I almost always don’t post and always feel a bit of anxiety 😥 that the cap will roll off the table or something, and when I do post I feel the anxious that the cap is not on snug enough that a twist or wave of my hang will fling the cap across the room.

@NoType This is indeed the most heart rending of posts that I have read on this forum!

 

As @Centurion notes, the saving grace is that all that is needed is a new cap, and all should be hunky dory. Yes, this being a MB repair, it would be unreasonable these days to expect the cost to be anything "reasonable". 

 

Looking forward to a happier post from you when all that is required, the new cap and the nib exchange that is, is finally done and the pen is back to new

I have to agree with that. I found the six cartridge wallet and the dual cartridge "mechanism" somewhat cumbersome, and took to using a Boheme with a cartridge / converter for travelling for a while. Now I just carry a throwaway ballpen or at times a Caran d'Ache (or Lamy) multi-pen for travel– some airports require that you display that the pen writes!

Ooh dear, that's horrible! I can just imagine that crushing sounds... yish! I am sorry that that happened to you. Hopefully Montblanc will send it back to you quickly, with a beautiful new cap!
