That's a pen I would dearly love to own but it's beyond my pen budget. And it would also be an enabler pen, because once I had it, I'd have to get the jade as well....

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing when Ron posted the photo.... So I did a quick Google search, and I was right.... :crybaby:

And let's just say that a Yard-o-Led Viceroy Victorian Standard -- my GRAIL pen, is more affordable that the Pelikan Pelikan of Their Time 1935 Lapis LE from 2001 is.... :wallbash:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Love the colour. I'll probably buy the accompanying M20X pen, if there is one.

As for the ink, I don't usually go for shimmering ink because of the need for added maintenance but may just buy this ink for collection purposes or to use with a dip pen.

I'm very fond of using shimmer inks, and Pelikans are my pen of choice because they are so easy to clean out. A couple of initial flushes to get rid of the worst, then a whizz in the sonic cleaner for the nib and a rolled up bit of kitchen roll applied to the inside of the pen with the piston pushed as far forward as it will go - and you're sorted. :happyberet:

Any one bought the ink yet????

I ordered two bottles and tried it out just last night. I was surprised to see that the flakes in the bottle look silver but the blots on the paper towel from wiping the nib after filling was definitely gold and you can see gold on the feed.

In the ink itself, not so much. I realize inks often need to 'sit' in the pen a couple days to blossom, as it were, so it may become more pronounced in a day or so. It may be also that Pelikan feels they may have gone a bit overboard with Golden Beryl. The Beryl bottle has a thick layer of gold across the entire bottom, whereas the Lapis has an large oval area in the middle that doesn't extend to the edges.

The Beryl lays down a solid shimmery line while the Lapis lays down a blue line with some spreckles. The color is quite nice in a Kon-peki-ish way.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I have the ink finally, but it’s been labeled “do not open until 05/20.” The temptation is real.

I finally got my bottle as well. I really, really like the lovely medium blue color and am getting a good amount of shimmer on the page as well. My greedy little heart is already planning a backup bottle. I hope that they do a matching pen in another demonstrator. Being able to see the ink reservoir makes it so easy to know when to agitate the pen to redistribute the gold particles. I've just been rolling the pen between my hands which seems to work well.

Dxam...wished for full bottom gold layer...

Using Daimine Shimmering Sea right now in an old small w.Germany 600 OBB, and with overheads on, nothing, with a desk lamp set to the side, yes. There is glitter.

For my birthday I got a gift card for my B&M to buy some ink....so and tomorrow is a holiday, so I have 1 1/2 day to dither in.

I wasn't able to pick up the shimmer with my camera, but this is the shade of blue on my cream, gray lined Graphic Image journal paper:IMG_4624.thumb.jpeg.a4dd58bae28e92ce82ceb1004fc8780f.jpeg

Beautiful...hoping to pick up my bottle today!

Back at 8 pens inked (was in the 20's)...was supposed to stay at 7 or lower to use up more ink.

But Golden Lapis, for me, is also a nice blue shading ink, so should be used again, and soon.

Three full pen cups to be cleaned.

I successfully acquired a bottle of "Golden Lapis".
Shimmer is only evident in the beginning of writing...as with all shimmer inks.
A consistent failure for me...
Tone and performance of "Golden Lapis" is almost a duplicate of "Kon Peki".
Acceptable...but wholly unnecessary, as I have two bottles of "Kon Peki".
Will re-gift with Fountain Pen to an artist friend at holidays.

I’ve had Golden Lapis in my Wing Sung 698 SF (Au) since July of last year (sort of). It’s been great. It was pure GL until mid January. Never any hard starts, the shimmer always shows- in fact, there’s so much shimmer that it’s still there after I emptied the barrel and refilled the pen with a bit of Edelstein Sapphire and then finished that small fill and used 4001 Turquoise. The resulting color is very close to GL, funny enough, and the shimmer is still abundant. I decided to just keep adding different Pelikan inks and riding out the pretty shimmer until it’s mostly gone.

Hah...genius!
I will see if my refill with Kon Peki has any shimmer to it after.

I will take a picture of my clear feed later. It’s so amazingly full of shimmery goodness.
