Really an amazing gadget. I wonder if it will also work with modern multi-objective phone cameras. OK, one more to add to the wish list. It's growing very fast. I'll have to wish for less things or do something about it. :D

Anyway, back on topic, the ink does certainly look too clear to make for good reading, but it may look awesome on fountain pen illustrations, specially if surrounded by darker colors.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

And if you'd like something similar to the USB microscope with less clutter, and right now only slightly more expensive (it's on sale), check out the Tipscope attachment for smartphone cameras.  It makes amazing macro photographs.  I can't embed reddit images directly, so I'll link some reddit posts with examples:

Diamine Dragon's Blood (w/ crazy sheen)

Some Diamine shimmering ink with sheen

Part of me really wants one of these things, but it couldn't replace any part of my review process, only add visual appeal, so I'm resisting (really waste too much time and money already).

Woho! Thanks for the links.

These are not only photos of high resolution, they are illuminated very well!

I'm afraid a simple microscope will not do it, you will need a very good lamp as well.

One life!

:lticaptd:You're very welcome!  And did you learn your phone's true name? :D

Indeed, it did after some time. It is:

I think, my phone has a great true name. I'm still struggling to memorise it!   :D

 I find that over time, things either drop off my wish list or rise to the top of it.  I wondered the same thing, my non-phone (no cell plan) has all kinds of lenses on the back - there's 3-4 of them (the 4th looks different and I'm not sure if it's a lens or something else).

I agree completely!

I looked at the other posts of the user who posted those photos, and whoever it is, they're clearly a serious photographer.  I also read somewhere that the gadget is designed to help concentrate the light from your phone's flash.  And finally, in one of their posts, they said they used photoshop (or lightroom or something) to edit the photo.  In short, we're probably not all going to get as good of photographs by just sticking the thing on our phones and "snapping" a photo. :)

Perhaps a built-in flash?

Have fun!

:) No, the flash is off to the side.  I'm guessing only 3 are cameras because the item description (on Amazon, where I bought it) says: "48MP triple camera system".  Ah, and there's more (clearly I don't care that much about the camera on this phone or I'd know this):

1. "action camera"  (the flash is to the side of this, the rest are below this)

2. "48MP main sensor" (also looks like a camera lens, just smaller)

3. "macro vision" (looks like an even smaller lens)

4. "laser autofocus" (doesn't look like a lens)

I gave up on using this device for doing my reviews because it has a known bug (not mentioned on the Amazon page, of course) where it lowers incoming audio to absurdly low levels - there would have been no "tappety tap tap" of the nib in my videos if I used this phone to record them - not even with an excellent external mic. :(  It appears the issue is in the software, but Motorola decline to fix it.

Having said all that, I now realize that I use this thing for pictures and videos of Klaw and the birdies he likes to watch, and audio hasn't been a problem.  So now I'm wondering if there was an update the fixed it without mentioning it...  I'll have to do a test recording and see if it picks up the nib sounds. :)

Thanks, @Claes, for prompting me to think about this some more. :D

Was expecting gold, got orange instead.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

:)  To my eyes, it's dark yellow, not orange, though I suppose the there's some overlap there.
