The 4001 Brillant Braun was written with a Pelikan M1000 (F) but the Pelikan was green and didn't match the ink so I put the Patrician in the pic.  👍

I love this attention to detail!

Just made an Iroful Notebook.  30 pages, black covers. 😁

Some highlights from the Cosmo Snow Notebook:

  • J Herbin Cornaline d'Egypte wouldn't dry

  • Iroshizuki Ama-Iro shaded nicely. The color is much lighter than this web-pic shows.

  • Usually Diamine Jack Frost sheens like this

  • But every once in a while the "Blue Personality" comes out.

  • It's my favorite rendition of Jack Frost.  This is an unusually sharp pic.  😀

Your notebooks are progressing nicely. @USG. I also love the blue/lavender version of Jack Frost.

I like it too.  Too bad it only shows up once in a while. 🤷‍♂️

@USG does the notebook maker you got perforate the paper?  Just curious.

For ink testing, personally, I’d see no need to be able to cleanly remove pages.

Hi MzFit, I just saw your post again.  Where you talking about those micro-perforated pages that a lot of notebooks have?  The machine only punches binding holes.   Where there have been micro-perforations, I don't think I've ever removed any pages...  Have you?

Just wondering. 😀

@Misfit ... does the notebook maker you got perforate the paper?

@USG has already replied "no". But I would like to add that a perforation gadget is neither complicated, nor exceptionally expensive. Just google for perforating tool for paper.

Have fun!

Kakitsubata is pretty lean (a.k.a non-viscous) as far as Sailor inks go, so it won't normally sheen even on Iroful, unless of course you let it partially evaporate inside the pen (like I often do 😅)

I too have toyed with the idea of getting a cheap binding machine, but I'm not particularly keen on spiral bound notebooks, +I favor A5 for which little exists out there. Well, except for thermal binding gluing which I detest.

There are some other elegant solutions for the casual user, such as channel/pressure systems, some of which even allow for custom hot stamping, but I'd rather buy a nice new pen in that price range 😉

@lamarax  I'm using this style of notebook so I can fold the page back like this and still have it lay flat...

Let’s see,

@USG yes I was thinking of perforating for easy tear out. If I bought a pad for letter writing, then yes I would take pages out.

@Claes I’m not sure which notebook maker you are asking about.

If you mean Maruman paper, I got the same results.  I tried to take a pic of the nib but I couldn't get the color right...  It's a steel nib like yours but it came out like this....

Actually it's a 14K gold (rhodium plated) #8 nib with an ebonite feeder -very juicy! But Maruman paper won't have any of that; it just refuses to show sheen no matter what!

Mind you, Taccia Ukiyo-e sabimidori will strongly sheen on every other type of paper I have, coated or not.

Some paper just eats sheen, @lamarax. I have an Apica notebook that does the same.
