Waterman Harley Davidson "Combustion"

Hello everyone...

Yesterday I bought a Waterman Harley Davidson Combustion fountain pen online for 20 euros.

Today I collected it from the pickup point and I was pleasantly surprised.

The pen is in mint condition, as new. No signs of usage at all and came in the original "headlight-box".

However, why was I surprised?

It's an unnumbered "Sample" pen. The word "sample" is discretely printed on the cap, not engraved, so if I would want,

I could carefully try to remove the print with a very light abrasive.
Also the absence of a serial number in the clip makes this one a, in my eyes, rare pen.

Would this pen, for a collector, be worth more than a regular of the shelve version?

I'm a collector myself, but not one who sells them. I like them too much for that :)
Would like to read your thoughts on this..

Sample in this context means it was one of a set of pens given to a reptile (sales rep.) to take to pen shops to show them the current range. I have never seen a numbered sample pen

I have a number of Parkers with the same printing on them.

It probably does not add or subtract much from the price. Sample pens are not rare nor are they really sought after as best I know.

@ParadoXDesign does it write? Have you inked it yet? Let us know what you think about how writes and what it is like to write with

I haven't inkted it yet. I've already read some posts that the flow sometimes isn't good. Perhaps I'll keep it a virgin, or I will ink it in due time.. :)

Perhaps the best way.

If it is true to its harley engineering heritage it will leak like a sieve and only work intermittently.
