Antique shop by where I work has a Tiffany pen and pencil set, so I'd probably get that and spend what's left on  restorations

2. Yard-O-Led.

All the best is only beginning now...

If I HAD to spend that kind of money (like, being forced to),I'd go for a Conid Regular, an Aurora Internazionale (green or orange), or a Nakaya Kuro-tamenuri Writer Portable. Ask me again tomorrow and the list would look differently I guess...

That's a no brainer for me: the Montblanc 149 Calligraphy with flex nib (if it can be found) or, else, a Japanese Aka Tamenuri usushi with a custom ground flex nib.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

I've always liked the Pelikan M405 Stresseman. It's always been just out of my reach budget wise. It would certainly be one I would consider. Before my last purchase (Montblanc Noblesse) I looked again at it as well as some others including the Parker 75 Cisele. But I don't know what I would get.

@Runnin_Ute $372 was the best price I could find for the M405 Stresemann.

The Writing Desk in the UK has it for 240 GBP right now (~$305 USD) and it was still beyond what I had available.

@Runnin_Ute you did a better search. Well, maybe one day you’ll get one. That’s how I’m thinking of the much less expensive True Writer Kyoto.

Have done business with them in the past. Bought my M400 White Tortoise and one or two M200's from them. I think it was the Gold Marbled and Brown Marbled. Savings vs US vendor was mich smaller on those. Saved about $175 on the White Tortoise.  (~399 v ~225)

I'm saving for an Onoto Magna Classic, but I'd buy one now if I had a spare $1,000.  Picture from Onoto.

I am assuming here you get to spend up to $1000, but what you don't spend you don't keep (or I would buy a Varisity as my "one" pen and then take my $996 in change to buy any combo of pens I want).

I think first choice would be an S.T. Dupont Line D. 2nd choice an Aurora Optima - one of the special edition colors which are always so much more expensive than I am going to pay.

I am also tempted by the Pelikan Glauco Cambon, but need to see that in person first.

Yes magical indeed. I was looking at the Edison current inventory. Sigh, now I want this magical $1000 to be real.

The Sailor Hiroshima Commemorative Factory pen.  I have fallen in love with my wood Pilot Custom Enjyu.  Now, I’m curious how Sailor does wood pens.  I’ve always wanted a Sailor.  A Sailor made from wood salvaged from their previous factory would be a double bonus in my view.  These only come in Medium so, I’d use the remaining $$$ to have it reground to an MF.

I checked my bank account. Sadly no $1000 deposit was there. Thank you for trying.
