How do you display or store your pens?

What’s the depth of the inside of the drawers on that chest?  In other words, the longest pen I could put there in the same orientation that you’re using?

It's about 7 1/4 in. You'd be hard pressed to find a pen that doesn't fit there.

The Pen Cabinet got an upgrade: lights!

DH has used LED strips and has hidden them in the front lip under each shelf so they can'tbe seen from any angle.  Next step is to hide the wires.

Wish my dodgy photo didn't makes the light look so harsh, rather than the soft effect it actually has. Is very pretty. Needs another tidy up too.

@AmandaW Awesome!

Did you use plug in or battery powered lights? I'm very tempted by the ones that come with a little remote. They also usually have a color change programming feature which I would never. ever use, but kind of want as well. My pen cabinet is pretty well lit, but I would love some in the closet or cabinet lighting that has the motion detector  feature which turns on when you open the doors. Of course, the more complicated, the more can go wrong. What lights did you install?

We were at Ikea for a family birthday meet up yesterday morning (cos it's at the mid-point between all our homes and that time works with everyone's crazy different schedules) and I spotted cabinets with lights... Decided immediately that The Pen Cabinet needed lights, but I couldn't work out what to get. As you say, there are so many options. Too many.

DH remembered he had a roll of LED lights tucked away (that someone had given him when they were decluttering) and was sure he could do something with that. His original qualification in electronic and digital design comes in useful sometimes...

So it's plugged in, wired in, custom built to fit and all hidden. And essentially cost nothing cos everything came out of his hoard of bits and pieces.

My Cinderella is turning into a Princess. On a budget.

On a budget is always a good thing -- means you can buy more pens and inks and such with the leftover cash.... :thumbup:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks. For some reason I was under the impression it wasn't that deep.  That's deep enough for all that I have.

Don't cringe, but for the ones I am not using, I keep them in a couple of promo coffee cups I have on my desk. For my dailies, they are in a wooden pen holder I got from Galen Leathers. Keeps them at hand, but out of the way where my admin assistants (cats) won't try to knock them on the floor).
