Pilot Black Ink in Test Liquids

Tender Typhoon

Recommended Posts

Water and alcohol for 1 hour -

Lifting of excess ink and dilution of blackness, halo around letters especially with alcohol

Bleach -

Immediate fading, no longer readable by 5 minutes, an unreadable trace remains at 15 minutes

I find Pilot black to be quite wet (the wetness is possibly contributed or augmented by a wet pen - Jinhao 51A).

It's quite burpy on toilet paper. I lightened my writing as much as possible on this sample.

It behaves well enough on 100gsm paper (photo with Hero 400 and Platinum Chou Kuro), and I hope on papers of higher grammage.

Thanks, @Tender Typhoon! :)  Interesting results.  Guess Pilot Black isn't your thing if you're worried about bleach, but it seems to have held up well against water and alcohol.  It also looks quite black next to Platinum Chou Kuro.  And thanks for the pointer to my review - glad you liked it. :D
