2002 and or plus 805 OBB.

Back in the day, before computer or telephone bidding,  I paid some €200 for it at a live auction. Got a small  black and gold W.Germany 600 for €135. So that was a good...day.

In my two up pen cups***....that small OBB 600.

a '54 transition 400 tortoise semi-flex B.

A '91-97 400 tortoise, regular flex M....a width I've come to like.

a 400nn tortoise EF.

200 Amethyst regular flex M.

A large 605 stubbed from baby bottom BB to 1.0/B by Francis.:notworthy1:

*** One of my pen cups is a 1795 Meissen mustard jar, missing the top. It is one piece, cup and saucer.Z6Sch8A.jpg

A nice flock of Pelikans there @Bo Bo Olson, and in a beautiful piece of ceramic!

Thank you....

I do have about 35 of them, a bunch in my two dirty cups and in my two  pen boxes; one a Pelikan three drawer box, the other a glass topped cherry wood two drawer one.

Got to clean out pens, so I can lay out all 35 or so of my Pelikans.

Living here in Germany made it easier for me to pick up a couple pre/post war 100/100ns and a Ibis....The Ibis shocked me, somehow in spite of having a 140, didn't think the ibis would be gold nibbed and semi--flex.

The normal '50's and a few '82 or '89  W.Germany pens,  a slew of the '90's pens.

Post '97 I only have one a 605 I got on sale at Galeria Kaufahaus...a 605 for €99.

I do have 7-8**, 200's a couple semi-vintage...'85-on out, and some five ** 200 LE's.

Haven't done much writing yet today, but the one I have with me is a M200 Gold Marbled with B nib.

This morning it was the M200 Café Crème, B nib (which since it's the 3rd one I bought after LOSING the first one and THEN the replacement to that) -- still with Edelstein Topaz.  I'd had such a crummy afternoon and evening yesterday, after getting home from visiting a friend -- who is recovering from open heart surgery -- for a couple of hours, and then going for a drive (got so lost at one point I ended up going the opposite direction on a road I'd been on earlier, because I realized I'd seen the signs for the cross streets) only to find there were three more hangup spam calls (all went to voicemail, but no message was left on any of them); then had trouble gettin hold of my husband (who is still in Mississippi at the moment -- he's supposed to call me at some point tonight after he and the friend helping him at the booth pack up and, presumably, get on the road tonight), although I don't know how far they'll get. Then woke up sometime around dawn, after getting to bed later than I'd planned (after getting about 3-1/2 hours sleep the night before) and then going back to sleep until around 9:30 AM after waking up I think around dawn.

So this morning, for doing the "morning pages" journal entry, I decided I needed a bright cheery color, and the Café Crème still has Edelstein Topaz in it.

Thanks.

I'm getting sick and tired of the spam.  I thought at first they might be political robocalls (the PA primary is in a month or less).  But at least a couple were reported as being "health insurance scam" (which suggests that they're from insurance companies wanting to sell us Medicare/Medicaid coverage -- the flyers in the mail have been bad enough).  And one was reported to be a "car warranty scam" (newsflash -- both our current vehicles are OVER a decade old at this point, and are running just fine because we keep up with stuff like oil changes and whenever some idiot light appears on the dashboard, we call the mechanic down the hill from us for an appointment) -- and we have a VERY good insurance company (a few years ago there was a segment on one of the local network channels here by a guy named Clark Howard, about the "5 Best Insurance Companies You Never Heard" -- which included OUR car and homeowner's insurance company in the list, but also the company that my husgand had casualty (?) insurance for the sideline business through!).

At least they seem to have taken the weekends off....  But some of those calls came up BEFORE 10 AM!  So much for being on the Federal DNC list....

Here in Germany I don't get spam telephone calls.

And we decided not to start putting money into our 25 year old Toyota...so we went out and bought a three years old, brand new Toyota.

Toyota replaced Volvo as best car a generation ago or more.

And we go in for a tire change and oil change twice a year. and a Winter check with the fall tire change.

And oil is DIRT CHEAP in the US. :headsmack: and people don't change oil.

Oil is so, very very $$$ expensive over here.€ 10 low end... for the good fairy, blessed stuff €25/30 a quart.

I'm not going to expose my ignorance about watches here, as I know watch collectors are just as passionate as pen collectors, but that Crocodile/Alligator brown band really sets off your White Tortoise. A+ accessorizing!

Today I'm writing with my M200 Blue Demonstrator from 2002 with its Richard Binder modified broad crisp italic nib. I was lucky enough to pick up a lot of his work before he retired his store front and they've all given me years of wonderful cursive sessions.

If you are feeling brave, (or if you just wish to cheer yourself up about the price of your Toyota’s engine oil) look up the price of the fancy oil that is specified/required for the DSG gearboxes in VAG-group cars (VW, Audi, Skoda, et al).

It costs more than Single Malt! :yikes:

At the price it costs, I have to assume that it contains one or more components that are obtained by liquefying certain specific organs of ancient Mammoths that have been dug out of the Canadian/Siberian permafrost.
By artisanal craftsmen who have served a twenty-year apprenticeship in how to tell the Mammoths whose organs will be suitable from their contemporaries whose equivalent organs are unsuitable.

That's a very fine looking watch.

I have an older used Longines, and my 'crocodile' watch band is darker. Mine don't say what model it is on the outside, but has a gold case. I use to live next to a jewelry shop and sometimes someone would want to sell a gold watch....and we would get a call.

Once I was so stupid, unwilling to spend for me a small fortune on a watch worth more for just the gold and the band.:headsmack: The price of gold doubled. Sigh cubed.

.....................

There was a time when I could afford to get my mechanical watches cleaned....the better the watch the more often....3 to 5 years for a real good mechanical watch...and cleaning is expensive....so do get one, to have one...but unless you have money, do think about having 6 or more. The rest should be quartz watches.

My best watch has 25 jewels, is automatic and can be had for €40 on German Ebay.

It was a name old German folks would recognize, but has been out of manufacture for 30-40 years.

You don't need any more than 17 jewels .... so mine with 25 gilded the lily....even more than the 21 jeweled ones.

.................

In my old Toyota Corolla I'd load the old motor with Liquid Moly, rated as best German syntactic oil for only €37 a liter/quart.

Just took Mercian's advice and looked up the cost of oil....and €37 is reasonable.:yikes:

Didn't look to see what Toyota oil costs at the Toyota shop....my wife is kind to me and didn't let me risk a heart attack. We got a 'new' three year old Toyota....was three must be 5 now and had an oil change.

To be fair, you get a full liter, not just a quart 😛, but yes, it was a shock to me the first time I paid for an oil change in Germany…

All this talk has motivated me to go find a bottle of Robert Oster Motor Oil, which is to me a nice color.

I'm also a big fan of the Edelstein Rose Quartz, though I actually filled my M205 Rose Quartz with Robert Oster's Rose Gold Antiqua which is a little similar, but with a Rose Gold Shimmer. More problematic, probably, but a fun option to consider if you like that shade of pink.

@N1003U I just bought my first bottle of Robert Oster. They make some wonderfully intense inks.

Today, I'm writing with my M605 Black Tortoiseshell with a broad cursive italic nib. I've ended up with two of these and can't decide if I should return the second one or not. It's such a lovely pen.

That sounds lovely, I might try a sample. Does the second black tortie M605 have the same nib? If not, then it’s an entirely different pen and you should keep it. If so, then maybe you can trade the nib at at pen show or club meeting? I find that the tortoise Pelikans have the most binde material variation (or at least they did- have yet to see the opaque version) and can look remarkably different from pen to pen.
