Stipula Etruria Magnifica Fountain Pens on Amazon

Why this pricing is my question...but certainly enjoyable.

As Theroc p;ointed out "Some of the Venitdue 22s are at $50 now, after 20% coupon."  If you have the cash flow, I recommend buying two of which ever you want, in two separate orders, then hope that one of the two has a good nib and you can return the other for a full refund as defective.

I can't seem to find or locate the 20% discount coupon?

You should know whether you missed the boat, as where that was has already been discussed earlier in this very thread.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Yes, those appear to be the discounts for Prime members.  But the prices without that 20% for the Venitdue 22s (2 of them) are still an eye-popping $63.

I am a prime member, and I did receive a 20% discount on another recent Stipula purchase...you are right though, still a very good price at $63...

Well, that was my theory, now I don't have one, except to stop mentioning the discounts.  Here is the citation for Amazon 20% pen discounts, at least for me:

Thanks for your reply...when I open your link in my Amazon acct it says not eligible...I suspect the 20% is targeted at certain prime members....using who knows what criteria.    Thanks for the info...even without the 20% discount, several of the Stipulas are very god values.

Th Stipulas I have purchased recently and over the years have been very good writers.  No issues.

Wow!

Thanks for the bringing this to our attention.

Some fantastic deals, but prices are all over the place.

Like the Suprema Foglia D'oro Gold foil vacuum filler with 14K Gold Stiflex Broad nib is only $230, less than the Stipula La Ventidue 22 Avorio with stainless steel medium nib at $245.

But then again you'll find the Suprema Foglio D'oro with a 14k Gold Stiflex Fine nib for $600.

And so on.

I showed extraordinary restraint and only got only one single purple Etruria Rainbow with a fine steel nib for $100. Of course after that I collapsed and got the Foglia D'oro with the 14K Gold Broad nib. The FOMO was too strong.

Thanks guys..... you've penabled me into getting the Supreme Foglia D'oro. For under $200 (using the discount coupon) I figured I could always return it to amazon if I didn't care for it. Was Hard to justify getting a pen with the steel v-flex nib at a higher price over the 14K stiflex nib. Not sure if I'll care for the gold flaked body though.

SUPREMA FOGLIA D'ORO now at $221, down to $177 after 20% off. LOL.

Yeah, it doesn't have the desired effect one would imagine. Gold flake in clear resin... a translucent resin would probably have worked better.

The Suprema Foglia is notable for being "In Stock", unlike  most other Stipulas, which have very small numbers left.

Wouldn't surprise me if it dropped even lower.

Yikes....just my luck. Was probably my purchase that sent the algorithm working to lower the price again 😪

Don't feel bad, for me at least the Stipulas no longer show the 20% or any discount.

My Amazon Prime no longer shows the 20% discount on some Stipula Models, BUT on other models it DOES show the additional 20% discount.  Even without the 20% discount there are some excellent values.

I recently purchased 3 different Stipula models and nib sizes thru Amazon...I have tested all 3 and there are NO ISSUES.  Nibs performed perfectly right out of the box, and the piston similarly worked perfectly once I moved them up and down a couple of times (just initially a little tight).

BTW, My avatar Gif was written using a Stipula Etruria with a 14K Stiflex nib. However, with added flex by Custom Nib Studio.

Stiflex nibs are not particularly impressive out of the box, but they respond incredibly well to added flex treatment by a nibmeister.

I am definitely sending the two new Stipulas I bought to a nibmeister for added flex. Eventually.

And poof, price tripled...

LOL. I'd love to know what the makes their price-master algorithm do this. What factors go into this? Is it a bug?

Sometimes I think the only reason for this bizarre all-over-the-place pricing is to keep us on FPN hooked.

I mean, if the prices were just low, they would get some traffic, some purchases, and people would move on pretty quick.

But here we are 40 days on, tracking prices and posting about it.

Well....picked up my Amazon package. Pen looked nice until I unscrewed the cap. Cap ring just fell right off on to the paper. Piston was pretty much stuck in barrel. Leads me to think that some of the 'discounts' are just returned pens. I'm not going to try to fix it b/c I don't like the gold flecks that much. Anyone else looking at these beware. YMMV

P.S.:  This is the first dud pen I've gotten from Amazon. Guess I've been pretty lucky
