This is the century anniversary of the meisterstuck.  Any thoughts on special editions they may release?  Anything they could open up from the vault and rerelease?

Im wondering who their great persons or writers edition will be… oppenheimer?  Gabriel garcia marquez?  Umberto Eco?  George Orwell?

No doubt the lineup is going to be special. I've heard of an Olympics related release with the colors akin to the older Pix. Orient Express editions should be making a return if the Inkstable interview Q&A with Alessandra Elia (Director for Montblanc Writing Culture) holds true. For the 100th Ann. of the Meisterstucks, I'd like to see the return of limited edition pen cases and related leather goods. Is the return of Mother of Pearl emblems too much to ask for on these resin edition 100th anniversary pens? Sure hope not, given the momentous occasion.

Thanks for suggesting this interview.

She seems to appreciate the interest in writing and isn't trying to push into tictoc or trendy directions.  I am curious also if they will continue a limited edition/special edition calligraphy release like the flex and then the curved nib.

The olympics might be interesting (I don't know if they did previous editions for the Olympics).  Mother of Pearl sounds dangerous to the wallet, but it is a 100 year celebration after all.

I did not realize the cases were also limited edition?  This may also be the year I have to pick one such case...

Umberto Eco might be a really interesting choice.  I liked The Name of the Rose when I read it in translation a number of years ago.

ETA:  The Gustav Klimt homage doesn't really wow me.  It also doesn't really feel like what I'd have expected design-wise, given how famous stuff like The Kiss is as a painting....

Have not read The Name of the Rose, but I thoroughly enjoyed Faucolt's Pendulum when I was about 17 or 18 years old, that was no light reading, gave me a headache as it was a page turner, finished reading after a week, and I remember it was a thick book.

I am re-reading The Name of the Rose (along w/ 100 years of Solitude by GGM) this year.

BTW, a much more accessible and shorter book is Baudalino.

Was Klimt a writer also?  Art is one of the many things I am ignorant of and "The Kiss" is the only work of his that I know.  I don't see that reflected in the pens shown but I do like the color scheme of the Blue/Gold.    Thanks for the link Amit.

I recall reading that three pens would be released as part of the special edition calligraphy 149 pens - i.e. the flex nib, curved nib and one more future release. Can anyone confirm that a third pen is indeed anticipated some time in the future?

I was hoping for a 100 year anniversary skeleton personally, excited for whatever this big moment will bring. I ultimately have my perfect setup, so I'm happy if nothing suits my fancy.

Oh I forgot about that one. Read that one, too.  Laughed like crazy at the part in the beginning when the publishing company sends bad writers around the corner to their (unbeknownst to the clients) subsidiary business -- the vanity press publishing house....

2023 masters of art was vaGogh - a painter.

Klimt was a painter as well, becoming famous during his lifetime. I will definitely have look at this pen in person in the Vienna MB shop ... (and leave my credit card at home :) )

One life!

Klimt models is not my cup of tea so my bank account will be happy. The GC is even worst for me so just waiting to see how will be the WE and maybe some for 100th of Meisterstück but if they are doing another skeleton, I'm not sure it will be at the same price than the 90th or UNICEF as we saw previous years skeleton 333 are around 25-27k €...

And unfortunately for Umberto Eco fan, he won't be the 2024 WE. It will be a lady.

I am hoping for a striated 146/149. Maybe a limited version, where the striations are highlighted by the addition of powdered diamond in the material, to give a subtle glitter when the light hits it just right.

I saw a Klimt exhibit in Austria a few years ago and really liked it. The Kiss was there along with a number of other abstract works. One of his paintings was so incredibly life like that it looked like a photograph! He was very talented. I do like this Pen but will not likely add it to my collection.

a "Sassy" Sarah Vaughan and Louis Armstrong SE pen would be interesting.

Also a Roaring 20s and Art Deco theme might be nice. Make them quite elaborate and expensive reflecting the prosperity of the era.

Plus, why not a flapper based pen?

n+1

You know, this thread is reminding me of some movie I saw a few years ago about some famous painting acquired by a museum in the US after WWII; it had been stolen from some family (the original owners, family who commissioned it) by the Nazis.  And I want to now say that it was a painting by Klimt.  Don't remember the name of the movie, or the museum that was sued, or even the name of the painting.  And of course the name it was officially known by was not what the heirs of the family it was stolen from called it -- because it had been a portrait of some family member/ancestor of theirs (so for THEM it was just "the portrait of Cousin [name of the person in the painting]

Woman In Gold  is currently available on Netflix in the US. Not sure elsewhere. An excellent movie.

I really hope this will finally come to true. Look back the sale of the recent years. The most hottest one is the 149 flex. We need the real innovation in writing instrument.
