"Long knife" nib?

Claes

Recommended Posts

Morning, all!

On a certain site I have spotted lots of

Chinese fountain pens, equipped with

a "long knife" nib. That is a new term to me.

Something newly invented or just something

that's lost in translation?

Have fun!

It's something that's lost in translation.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I got this "Brass" HongDian with such a nib.

Like someone else said "It seems very rollerballesque"

I have tried it out now in quite a variety of ways and quite frankly, I think it is a waste of money albeit not very much money!

For a start, I do not think that there is anything brass on the pen except for the colour. The nib is not offering any sort of variation and seems no different to any Jinhao X159 with a broad nib. Even the size of the nib seems like a standard #5 nib size.

I would have done better to buy another Ahab with a flexy nib at a lower price than what I paid for this Long Knife pen.!
