How to remove/replace Dollar Pen lever?

Hello, can anyone provide directions (or links to a good source that does) on how to properly remove and replace the lever of a Dollar pen?

I’ve restored a lovely bandless that is missing its original lever. (The pin is still in the pen, but the lever itself is gone). A different, fatally wounded donor Dollar is ready to help, but I haven’t found a diagram or instructions for this task…

Thank you for any replies!

The lever is held by a c-ring in a groove in the barrel.

Push down and back and it should pop out.

Thank you, that did the trick! Now a real puzzle… The lever is exactly the right size and shape for the bandless I’d like to repair, but the groove (and fulcrum point) is lower than where it was in the donor pen. It doesn’t fit!

is there any trick to bend the c clip to have a tiny “u” to adapt to where it should swivel - or am I just out of luck? I presume the c clip won’t hold against the smooth inside of the barrel, above the groove, would it?

Got any photos?   I have found that the levers sometimes have two sets of holes, and it becomes necessary to use the other set for levers that don't set right.   I just gently open up the C-clip before doing a transplant to be sure that it fits snugly in the groove inside the barrel.

Sorry for my delay @gweimer1 - I was off the grid over the holidays!

Thank you for your help! Below are some pictures - the first shows the fit of the lever itself - it seems a perfect length for the pen. It came from a broken banded Dollar.

The second picture shows the hole in the lever along side the original c clip (still in the pen). The lever is in the same position as the first picture, so the hole is too high… If I line the hole up with the c clip, it would leave an open gap in the pen.

There isn’t a second hole in the lever, that’s only a small dink at the top of the lever. Thanks for your thoughts on this! It is a lovely pen - I haven’t even cleaned it up yet, apart from removing the hardened sac.

On the earlier pens there are two different levers differing where the pivot point is.  One for the smaller diameter and one for the larger diameter barrels.  At some point someone in manufacturing must have said duh, lets just drill two holes and then we can stock one part.
