Schaap -/- Citroen fountainpen (Dutch jewelers brand) 925 silver from the 80s

Hi, this week I’ve received a rather dull pen, who, after a good cleaning with silverpolish, came out to be a very beautifel ugly ducklet.

I did some research after the name on the box (schaap citroen) and emailed the company that I found online.

It turned out to be indeed a “Schaap Citroen” fountainpen from the 80s, in near mint condition. I think I am the first person to put ink in it.

The company stated it’s an exclusive pen they selled back in the 80s, made out of first quality silver (925).

The irridium point writes like a charm, smooth and with an uninterrupted inkflow. It’s got a real heavy feel to it, but not too heavy.

The cap closes neatly with a solid click and fits perfectly.  The design is perhaps a bit spartan, but it’s got a stylish quality that appeals to me.

Has anyone encoutered this kind of pen too perhaps?

Happy holidays!!

Nice find.  Was not familiar with this brand at all.

I'm a complete sucker for sterling silver....  Always have been, even before finding my way to this hobby....  I have a silver-plated pitcher that was a wedding present from a guy I used to know who was working in a jewelry store at the time, who I knew from high school.  And when I was getting married, my uncle showed up at my parents' house that day with what had been my grandmother's sterling flatware (my mom didn't know my uncle and aunt even HAD it).

Somewhere in my sewing room I have a roll of silvercloth -- the special silver impregnated fabric to make bags and flatware rolls for that stuff.  Not that I ever got around to making any of those....

Hi Ruth, I can relate to your love for sterling silver. When I got this pen yesterday it looked dull and rather plainly. But when I got to really take a good look at it, and learned about where it came from, I took some polish and really got it shining again, like new! Wonderful deep silver color.. Like it very much, and it writes like a charm! I hadn’t heared of the brand either, but it seems there are several stores situated here in the Netherlans and Belgium..
