It's a Hero 395 and the bottom is there to help it secure when posting. It's also somewhat decorative. Overall it's a better looking than performing pen.

I thought that was the Hero plum blossom on the clip, but my eyes are not great. I do like the secure post feature, as a serial pen poster. Some pens are more decorative than performative, it’s unfortunate.

I usually prefer pretty vintage celluloids, but there are 3 metal pens I've retained for my collection. All were "sumgais" and they are all great writers!

Parker Cisele Sterling 75

Eversharp Skyline Command Performance solid 14k

Mont Blanc Turbo brushed steel

IMG_0025.JPG

Nice set of sumgais!  The Eversharp is beautiful, and 75 Ciselés are one of my favorites. I haven’t seen that MB before- it’s really cool!

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I'm a poster also. To the point that a pen that won't post is practically a deal breaker. My Faber -Castell e-Motion is claimed to be able to post. Nope. Making it unusable to me. Too bad, it's a brilliant looking pen.

Montegrappa Reminiscence (round version, late 1980th)

nice lighter and ciggie case also.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Me too, I find medium=small, standard and medium-long/large pens to have the best balances.

Back in the day of One Man, One Pen, and one bought a new pen every decade....a pen was normally posted from my memory and had to have great balance or one went from being a Ford man to being a Chevie man, changing brands for the next decade of use.

The only large pen I've found to have great balance was the thin Snorkel. The P-45 has very good balance for a large pen.

The large 146...misses. But the medium-large '48-60 146 has great balance. The Pelikan 600's has great balance also.

You know, I'm a little surprised that we're seven pages in and the Parker 50 Falcon hasn't shown up yet.  I'd post pictures of mine if I hadn't already sold it...

No picture, a month ago a neighbor bought and sold to me a P15, P-50 and a P-51. She boutht for €12 and sold to me for €20.........Looking only at the 51, I opened my mouth

up to say €30, but 20 came out.:happyberet:

It did take a while to find out what a P-15 & 50 were.

I would love to see pictures, even if it’s found a new home.

And vintage Cartier lighter

Oh wow. The Cartier display at my jeweler’s shop was the “look but don’t touch” section for young Penguin. I wanted the Trinity and the Pasha and a tiara so badly.

I have four of the 146 pens dating from the early 1970s to the early 2000s and I find them well balanced except the back weighted Doue sterling silver.

I think one of my best balanced pens is my vintage Parker 51. It posts amazingly and feels great in the hand. I can see why it was so popular in its heyday.

I have an early Pelikan M600 that is sized like the M400 and one of the great things about it is the balance and light weight.

The Lamy 2000 is another well balanced pen when posted.

The Pilot Elite is another pen that is brilliant when posted. Both the modern and vintage styles.

You're right, back in the one man, one pen days the pen manufacturers had to get it right or else risk complete failure.

I deliberately don’t go to jewelry stores so as not to start wanting something super expensive :)

Montegrappa

I saw a super large one, in a live auction with it's very own teak temple. It was large enough that one's secretary follows behind one with it on a silk pillow.

I had the two handed pen in hand, but thought the tiny MB149 to be then, too big for me.

This one isn't that big. I have larger Monegrappas that really need a secretary and pillow :D I will show them later.

Same, same. My life is very different now than it was when I was a wee penguin.

I'm not sure, but I think it's green agate. But definitely not an emerald.
