I'm looking for stands for my pen cabinet. I didn't buy this one cos it doesn't fit my theme, but thought it was cute and might make @Penguincollector smile...

Got any pics to share of any pen holders you have or have seen?

I got this one a few weeks ago.

Look cute and perfect as a FP people, but pretty useless cause it is too small so it will only hold a few pens .

For more "premium" style, you can have a look at Bortoletti. They are great quality, I love a lot of their products

What kind of pen stand you are looking for?

That’s such a cute  pen stand, Amanda!  Even asks to hold your pen. 🥰
This one has that “store display” aesthetic, and would center the pens themselves for attention. I’ve also seen them in wood:

Clear acrylic pen stand

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

No pix, sorry, but at the Ohio Pen Show one of the vendors had a couple of "astronaut" pen holders (they're standing, and have their arms out in front of them (palms up) to put the pens on.  I let my husband choose which one he wanted and was happy that he picked the "white space-suit" guy, and not the "blue space-suit" guy....

I have a few of the small Pelikan pen rests (white glazed, gold glazed and blue glazed -- I've seen silver glazed ones on eBay but they all seemed to be from vendors in Eastern Europe).  I finally got one of the LARGE pen holders (also blue glazed) at a pen show a while back -- one of the ones where there's a hole in the bird's beak for the pen to be displayed.

And then there's the "action figure" Commander Worf, which I found at an antique mall's warehouse sale a while back in their secondary building.  I can move the arms around so they're stretched out like on the two astronaut stands I got at OPS.  I like to think he's pretending to be holding the Sword of Kahless....

Oh and a while back someone I know told me about an Japanese comics and anime store on the other side of town from me, and I picked up one of the Punilabo stand-up pen holders (Anderson Pens carries them and I forget who else does, but I was there in the local store and spotted them, and picked up the "calico cat" one....

How lovely! Just in time for Christmas, too. 😉

I suppose "cute" is in the eyes of the beholder, but here are some of my favorites:

Oh absolutely!  I've seen that episode of ST:DS9 a few times now....

Of course I've also seen the "time travel" one where they go back to the time and place of the space station where "The Trouble With Tribbles" was set a few times now, too.  And I didn't know this until I read some of the trivia about THAT episode on IMDB about the joke for when Jadzia Dax is squealing about seeing Spock -- apparently the actress who played Dax was DATING Leonard Nimoy's son at the time.... :D

And hey, for five bucks in an estate sale company's warehouse sale?  Why not buy the action figure War?

Great episode. I'm a big fan of DS9 and Star Trek in general. I didn't know she was dating Nimoy's son. Learn something new every day!

I didn't either until I read it in the trivia section on IMDB for that episode.

Another bit of trivia was that they used the old style cameras and film so that when they did the IT magic of dropping the modern characters in the old episode, it wouldn't seem out of place.

I had heard about the camera work. Another bit of trivia from that episode...When Sisko meets Kirk toward the end, the scenes of Kirk were taken from the TOS episode "Mirror, Mirror", another great one!

I have one of these I picked up at Vanness Pens: Will hold three pens. My largest pens tend to occupy this space. Things like the Newtons, Lamys, the largest of them all the Guider Capsule - which is a full 10 mm longer than a MB 149 or Pelikan M1000.

I also have one of the white glazed small Pelikan stands and a leather stand made for me by Webgeckos that holds two pens. Right now it is holding the M200 Gold Marbled and M400 White Tortoise. Oh, and it unsnaps at one end and lays flat for easy transport.

@RobNYC Oh, I had NOT known about that scene.  Interesting (it's been so long since I've seen the original series that I didn't remember a lot of the episodes); and only saw part of season 3 when the show was originally on TV -- but did got to see "The Trouble With Tribbles" and "Squire of Gothos" before they moved the show to 10 PM.

Never got to see "City on the Edge of Forever" until after I got married, when one of the independent channels around here had a Star Trek marathon one Saturday afternoon (that's the one written by Harlan Ellison -- and ALSO the one that beat out "The Trouble With Tribbles" for IIRC a Hugo Award that year...).

I was not able to catch any in their first run but have seen them many times since.  The Squire of Gothos is a great one, played by William Campbell, who also played Koloth in "The Trouble With Tribbles" and on several episodes of DS9. Since first seeing the character on TNG,  I've felt that the Squire was a forerunner of Q. "The City on the Edge of Forever" is one of the great TOS episodes. I read an interview with Harlan Ellison and he said they changed his script quite a bit as the original script had a sub plot about drug dealing on the Enterprise, but Gene Roddenberry wouldn't have any of that on the show.

I heard a weird bit of trivia earlier today -- apparently some aunt of a friend of mine was in NYC (I think) years ago and was walking past a bookstore, and there was a display in the window about something that Harlan Ellison had written and she was apparently going, "No, can't be the same guy... it just CAN'T be the same dweeb...."  Apparently she dated Harlan briefly in I think college and yeah, it *WAS* the guy she dated.... :o

So I told my friend the story I was told by some guy (I don't remember the guy's name -- who had a radio show on WBAI in NYC at the time (mid-to late 1970s) called "Hour of the Wolf" which I guess was some SF themed talk show.  He was going to have Harlan on as a guest one time and said "Okay, the show starts at 5:30 AM so you have to be at the station around 3 AM.  It'll probably be better if you just stay up all night and come down...."  And got told, "Oh, no, I'll be fine, I'll get up in time....."  Only the guy told me that it was the weirdest interview he'd ever done, because it was like, "Hello.  I'm Harlan Ellison.... Please don't hurt me...."  Which is NOT REMOTELY like the Harlan Ellison I'd seen at some SFWA Nebula thing in NYC (don't remember if it was the Awards Banquet that year, or just a party, with the Banquet being on the West Coast that year...).  Although my mom got my brother some LP of Harlan reading from his own work (which I THINK got nominated for a Grammy for "Best Spoken Word Record Album" the year it was released...).

Your thoughts about the Squire being a precursor to Q is pretty much spot on, I think.  Because Q was also a spoiled brat....

I remember the episode of ST:NG when Q got kicked out of the Continuum and of course ended up on the Enterprise and COMPLETELY freaking out when he saw Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg's character -- and Q was TERRIFIED of her).  And Guinan sticks a fork into his hand and goes, "Human enough for me!"
