Octopus - Write and Draw - Brown Colibri

Intriguing colour reminds me of persimmons, which grew on me over time. Very well behaved, even on copy paper, has lovely shading.

This belongs to Write and Draw line of nano pigment inks. They are waterproof, light fast, and ISO certified.

The complete line up the 38 inks are here:

the complete line of 38 inks:
https://www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/creative-inks/write-draw-ink/?p=1

Octopus has a host of warning on their site, basically using their inks only in cheap, well sealed pens.

Let's start with the chroma:

Writing Samples:

quotes are from azquotes website, I'm not sure how accurate they are :)

Nice colour but hard to describe -- at least for me. Maybe something out of Egypt like the pyramids and Sphinx etc, especially during dusk. Or sunrise? In any case thanks for the list of all 38 inks in this series. And/or -- to quote a few other friends here -- no thanks (as our wallets say)....

:) Great review, Yazeh!  The chroma reminds me of another ink, but I can't for the life of me figure out which!  I'm sure it'll come to me at 2am...

The ink is interesting.  Not sure whether I'd like it or not, but it does look interesting.  Fun quotes, more fun artwork!  Poor swatch-kitty getting poked by a needle-nose bird! ;)  Sweet trio taking care of their plant. :D  Kitty's about to flick an ear any second now, though.

Interesting is the word. It's like rust. At first I was repelled then it grew on me :)

Colibri is Hummingbird in French. I don't know why they chose a French word :)

I wondered (not enough to search).  But I like "needle-nose bird" better. :D

Maybe this is a case where the German word is the same?  Spelled differently - Kolibri.  Google translate think colibri is Romanian, so, obviously it's shared across some languages...

Interesting color, but I'm not sure I'd have called it "brown" (looks more yellow-orange on my screen).  Unless that's what color the bird's feathers are in real life....

Not sure this color is up my alley, but thanks as usual for a comprehensive review -- and love the artwork!

Thank you, @yazeh, for another review of a Write & Draw ink!

As mentioned before, me too can't see the brown in it. Nevertheless is it a nice nude-like colour, although not a must have for my collection.

@LizEF: was it J.Herbin Nude ... after it had been concentrated?

Much more than the colour, I love how you managed to display the circle of life! No colibri will ever accept to be directly fed by a mouse. Feeding the plant thats feeding the bird is really clever!  And, why not making siesta and watching birds after the work has been done? :D

One life!

They chose a French word because they know where you live!

I would say brick red or rush :)

The colour are not related to the animal. The next one, is Brown Penguin. That's not a colour I associate with penguins :D

We'll see, She probably got it somewhere @ 2 pm or while basting the turkey which the spellcheck corrected to murky :D

Ah bon! Zut alors! :D

While doing some research, I realized that there is the genus Colibri.  According to wikipedia :

- Colibri (bird), a genus of hummingbird

I scrolled through my inks, and I think it was just my imagination.  Maybe I was remembering Dijon mustard or something... :/

  I once helped someone prep, cook, and carve a turkey for Thanksgiving - swore I would never do that again as long as I lived.  I suppose if I'm starving to death and a turkey is the only thing available, OK, fine, but when the fridge and pantry are full?  Forget it!  I'll get my turkey from the deli.

The only thing that came to me at 2am was a sore hip from a large kitten who had me pinned in an uncomfortable position...

Yeah, that was why my mom always got a turkey breast instead of a whole turkey -- it was just the four of us, most of the time, and she didn't want to deal with leftovers for the next two weeks.

I never had that issue with any of our cats, but did on occasion wake up to a furry butt in my face because one of the forties wanted to share my pillow....  And when we first got the Maine Coon, he would want to sprawl across the middle of the bed and there generally wouldn't be room for the two humans.... :headsmack:

Yeah, try that with a lab-Great Dane mix!  Somehow, that giant of a dog always managed a spot on the bed.  The first time I took him for a long drive alone, he wanted to sit in my lap the whole way - you can't see the road with a 100-lb dog sitting in your lap.  Crazy critters!  Crazier humans.

Great review, and fun drawings. This ink’s colour looks appealing to me, but “nano pigment” … hmm… no more. Ruined a (fortunately cheap) pen with one of those.

The colour reminds me a bit of kyo-iro Moonlight of Higashiyama … but with a bit more yellow.

Thanks. Do you remember what ink was it? R&K sketchInk or De Atramentis? The few Octopus inks, I've reviewed have been surprisingly well behaved, despite all the warnings.

Yes. You're right. That was the first time, I experienced an ink with low lubrication :)
