Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Noodler's Akhmatova

This is review #260 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Cleaning wasn't bad for a permanent ink.  It was a little clingy inside the section and cartridge, but a bit of rubbing took that off - pen flush might have as well.  On the water test page, days 3-5 are paler because I was storing the pen horizontal but with the nib slightly up.  Before that, feed saturation was responsible for the darker color. After that, I turned the pen around so the nib was slightly down.

Noodler's advertise this as: bulletproof, eternal, fluorescent, and forgery resistant.

Zoomed in photo (The color is fairly close, but not quite as green as the ink.)

Screenshot (Text is too dark and desaturated.)

Scan of Completed Review (This is the most accurate color reproduction.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Both are pretty close to how the ink looks to my eye.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 281µm. With 260 inks measured, the average line width is 296µm.)

Microscope image (100x. Cell phone image. You can just see some strands of blue in with the bits of yellow.  Most of the ink was straight green, but little bits of blue and yellow showed up here and there.)

Water Test Results (The color is desaturated compared to what my eyes see.)

Help, I am stuck in a recursive ink review! 😉

Thanks for this useful review! I am glad you reviewed this ink - @yazeh's review really piqued my interest in this one.

Green?  Love green.  And of course, @LizEF, I always love your reviews.  But since I have Noodler's BAAAAAD Green Gator, which is also indelible (ask me how I know)😹 but which dries almost instantly, I won't be buying this one.  Nope, not even a sample.  Even with the neon green sky and its cloud turret.

The story?  Whoaaaahhhhhh, I'm biting my nails!  Hang on Essri!

I always look forward to your reviews/serial.  Thanks so much for making Tuesdays fun.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Another excellent review for a fantastic ink 👍

Is the dry 5 seconds or 2 minutes, I'm a bit confused?

This is on ink list, but I've resisted so far, I love grey greens, there's something so calming about them :)

And what a cliffhanger, with Essri having his "white fang" moment ;)

Thanks for making our Tuesday's sunnier 🌞

The dry time is ">2min" - greater than 2 minutes - that mark and the 2 minute mark had slight smudging.  Personally, I think it's a case of "my paper is to dry" and I'm doing the universe a disservice by measuring dry times....

:) Sometimes the list is the perfect balance between giving up and going broke!

That looks like a nice color.  But the slow dry time is going to be a deal breaker.

Thanks as usual for the stellar review -- and for helping me save my money on this one.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Well, trust other people's dry times - mine are apparently impacted by being in the desert - the paper's so dry is slows drying (go figure).

You're very welcome! :)

Got it. Maybe you should go for the humidor paper trial to get a clear idea. Or do the reviews in a bath or washing machine :D

  I still plan to do the tests, but winterizing and such have taken more time than expected, and now Thanksgiving is here - always too busy.  Hopefully I'll get time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thank you, @LizEF, for your always entertaining reviews. However, this episode is the peak of the thrill and has the ultimate cliffhanger. 😁🤪😬

This type of green is in my pray range. The circular references to and from @yazeh's review and the recently reviewed Bad Gator makes the adventurous ink hunting even more exciting.

However, similar to my greyish purples I have already a quite nice collection of muddy greens (and petrols) ....

@LizEF, can we convince you to make upcoming reviews in a steam bath cabin? 😁😇🤗

One life!

You're very welcome!  :D  I suppose if I were using a Platinum UEF nib I could fit double the story....  Instead, we'll have to wait until next week.
