What Lamy Are You Writing With Today? 2023-2024 Edition

I'm going to buck the trend of 2000 v. Studio (I dislike writing with the Studio, it's a gorgeous pen but I can't write with it): I'm writing with an Ideos, I love the tear drop shape of it (M nib, I always use M nibs).

If you end up loving the pen but hating the nib, Lamy does make replacement nibs (or, at least, they used to).  I found that Endless Pens sells them and, I think, The Pen Company in England.  I’ve bought all of my Lamy gold nibs at Endless.  They have the best price when they have them in stock.

This thread and your glowing review of the Lamy 2000 medium nib prompted me to take my own advice.  I had a medium 2000 replacement nib on my wishlist at Endless Pens so they sent me an email the other day that they were in stock.  I just received and installed the replacement nib and I'm pleased to report that my EF 2000 is now an M.  I see what you meant @Baka1969.  It is a delightfully smooth nib.  Much smoother than the EF it replaced.  Thanks for penabling that upgrade!

I wonder if the fine splits the difference? I like the EF. I don't love it like I do the medium.

I'd do the reverse. EF to F.

I’m thinking about having 2 lamy 2000 inked with different colours and different nibs. XF and F are not for me, but maybe a M nib.

is the stainless steel version a lot heavier then the polycarbonate one that I have?

A Lamy Safari black with EF nib.

It behaves much better since I filled it with Diamine Onyx black.

When I used Lamy T52 Black, it was often reluctant to start :-(

Nothing at the moment, but later in the day I hope to finish my testing of Noodler's Grinch Garnet (LE?) ink, which I have in the Vibrant Pink al-Star, 1.1 mm stub nib.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I've been testing out the medium nib I bought to replace an EF on one of my Lamy 2000s.  Seems that the flow is is little dry as it is currently writing with a finer line than my fine-nibbed 2000.  It's still smoother than the EF and I have a feeling that, after a little breaking in period, it will meet my expectations of being a silky smooth writer.

image.thumb.jpeg.e1c5964cdfba0a4996214de4707f58d6.jpegUsing these beauties today, they go so well together. My dialog ran out of ink though after only a few lines so I'll have to wait til I get back home to refill.

Aren’t they too girthy? The Dialog the nib comes out at the clip end, comfortable? The cc too small? I have only seen them in pictures, and I really love the design, more than the popular Pilot…

The pico is slightly girthier than where I hold my 2000 and has a nice medium-light weight, it's really comfortable. The dialog 3 however does sacrifice comfort for the design. It's really heavy and thick, and the nib does come out at the clip end but it doesn't get in the way for me personally. It's still totally usable though and I don't have large hands. I went for the 3 over the cc because I like the design a lot more but I think the cc would be more comfortable because it is shorter and lighter, and there's no clip to get in the way. Try them in-person if you can!

Presumably this takeover can’t be a worse prospect than Newell’s ownership of Parker and Waterman.

I had a banner Lamy day today.  I used a 2000, an Al-Star, my CP1, both Studios and even a Scribble pencil.  Fun variety of writing styles.
