Lamy New Editions for 2024.

Is the Cliff pen the one with the more grey looking barrel and cap?  Because I fear that the Blackberry pen would look too much like the Dark Lilac when posted.

Anyone know for sure when the pens will be available?  Because I still would have to see both of them in person to be sure whether I'd want either of them.  And have a feeling I'd have to do side by side comparisons with pens I already have, like the Dark Lilac.

I only just remembered that Lamy doesn’t like to let us shlubs in Europe buy its LE inks, and how great my frustration was when I found that I couldn't buy a bottle of their ‘Dark Lilac’ LE ink back in 2016, so this morning I have rushed to check retailers here to see if they still have any of the ‘Violet Blackberry’ ink in-stock.
Nobody is listing it - and although e.g. Cult Pens does list the two Safari variants under ‘Pre-order’, they make no mention of the bottled ink ☹️

I then looked on Lamy’s websites for the UK and Germany - the LE inks are shown crossed-out.

I don’t know if this means ‘not released yet’, or if it means ‘you are NOT allowed to buy this ink’.

But, given that the ink is already shown as ‘Sold Out’ on the websites of the US retailers that I checked, I suspect that Lamy is, once again, going to be denying us ‘Eurotrash’ the chance to give them our money 😢

Sheesh, Lamy is based in Europe. You’d think they would let at least one website in several European countries sell the ink. I live in the US, and think that’s rotten they deny the ink to Europeans.

There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth about it from us Europeans back in 2016 over the unavailability of  ‘Dark Lilac’ in bottles, and again in 2017 over the unavailability of the ‘Petrol’ in bottles.

I expect that Lamy has solid marketing research that shows that Europeans ‘don’t buy’ bottled LE inks. My view is that, while Lamy don’t let us order them, it’s kinda tricky for us to buy ‘em.
I completely understand a reluctance to invest in in-store marketing displays, but Lamy ought to at least let European online retailers stock and sell the flippin’ things. It would cost Lamy nothing, and it ‘might’ even achieve some sales.

Apologies; I got so triggered/carried-away with my kvetching that I didn’t realise that you had already, very clearly, typed that. En clair. Or, as it were, ‘out-loud’.

The pens are available on March 15th.  There are online videos of the pens and inks comparing their colors to existing Lamy pens and the new and other similar inks.
After seeing the video I am planning on getting both pens.

Yeah, I got the email from Goulet this morning.

I still think I want to wait to see the pens in person (hoping that at least one vendor will have them at the Baltimore/Washington Pen Show in a couple of weeks; of course I'll have to remember to bring my Dark Lilac Safari as a color comparison (and maybe the Ruthenium LX and the Azure al-Star as well).

I was willing to buy the Violet Safari SE, because it was JUST enough different in color (and had the matching color clip) compared to the Dark Lilac SE.  These new ones?  I really think I will have to see them in person.

I remember 2016 well. Everyone in Europe wanted that ink and LAMY just showed us the finger. I hope if they ever go down they choke on their own ink.

The Cliff wasn't crossed out a few days ago. They just teased us. I think they once again decided to spit in their European costumers' faces. Somehow their ink department hates Germany and Europe as a whole.

That is not a happy scenario for those of you in the EU. I checked this morning and at least one online retailer in the US lists the Cliff bottled ink in stock and ready to ship.

I have no intention of purchasing either of the pens 'cause I think they're gawdy (is that a word you hear in the EU?) I hate the color combinations. Some retailers have said the colors are 'growing' on them, but I am resolved not to even think about those particular pens to purchase. The ink though I definitely will buy!

Even more interesting is the two American Retailers I looked @ have these new inks listed @ 2 different prices, One @ $12.00 & the other @ $24 each!

I know ‘gawdy’ 🙂

Full disclosure:

I’m a Brit who joined FPN (& set my ‘flag’ icon) long before the UK flounced out of the EU.

I am an English man, who was born (and still lives within) the boundaries of the old Kingdom of Mercia.
English Mercia at that, as opposed to the half of Mercia that was occupied by the Great Heathen Army, and became part of ‘the Danelaw’, back in the era of the only King of England who has ever had ‘the Great’ appended to his regnal name (c.1150 years ago).

Should war ever break out again between the Seven Kingdoms, I would be rallying to the banner Azure, a Saltire Or.
Ok, so that symbol only got attributed as a representation of Mercia some 600-700 years after the Seven Kingdoms were all enfolded into the newfangled ‘Kingdom of England’, and it’s obscure enough that most people even in this country wouldn’t have any idea of what it represents, but it’s the flag that I would be using here if it were selectable 😁

I have thought about changing ‘my’ flag on FPN but, as the UK is still a member state of the ‘Council of Europe’ (for which body the circle of twelve yellow stars on a blue field was initially designed, and still represents), I’ve never felt the need to change ‘my’ flag here to either the Union Flag or the Cross of St. George 😁

If either of those retailers would be willing to post a bottle of the ‘Blackberry’ ink to the UK, I would be grateful if you would PM me with a link to its website!

I'm not seeing any mention of new pens or inks Down Here.

Australian retailers and Gatekeeper are still spruiking last year's Special Edition. Behind the times? By a year? Should be grateful. It used to be a decade...

Will work for pens...

Vanness showed the pens and ink in stock. The ink is $12. Plus you get the pen sleeve while supplies last.

Thank you

I just priced it up on their website.
They would charge me £10 for the bottle of ink - and £24.73 for delivery.

So, the question that I’ve gotta ask myself is, do I feel lucky want that ink enough to pay £35 for 50ml of it… 🤔
