Oh, and the discount on my order was 25%, rather than 20%.

I just saw the BLITZVIP code in my email.  Thankfully, my purchase was small and my oversight only cost me a whopping $3.55!  I wonder if it may be time to get serious about 25% off that Leonardo I’ve had on my wishlist…

Here’s the question: anyone planning Fountain Pen Day purchases?  I bought the swag from the Fountain Pen Day website. It’s red this year. I’m not sure if I’ll buy anything, except maybe the cake I used to buy for it. It’s a Hershey’s Triple Chocolate cake.

Don’t forget about the gems that may be hidden in your own drawers 🙂IMG_0678.thumb.jpeg.ccc0aaab52a6104e43118a8d81888ce5.jpeg

A very modest FPD "haul":

(Not shown are the Pilot, Sailor, and TACCIA fountain pens already bought and/or received earlier in the week.)

The Tokyo International Pen Show 2023 started today, but we won't be going until Sunday.

@A Smug Dill I like those Midori Diamond memo pads. I’ve bought two sizes, and like the larger of the two best. Jet Pens had an example of turning the larger lined version into a daily calendar.  It looked better than I’ve attempted to describe it. Oh, and I hope you have a great time at the Tokyo Pen Show.

The Hershey’s Triple Chocolate cake was in my pickup order, as well as a tube of gel icing. Once I’ve “written” FPD on the cake, I’ll share a photo. I still need to put ink in my new Franklin-Christoph model 3 pen. I did use Fountain Pen Day coupon codes to order a pen. I chose the Monteverde Mountains of the World Orange mountains which are actually the Watchung Mountains of volcanic origin in northern New Jersey. I have distant relatives in New Jersey.

Absolutely agree with this perspective.

It amazes me how easy it is for me, YES ME(!) to want to buy another "new" pen while I have so many pens (some BNIB) that I have never used!

Luckily, a purchase I made this FPD fell through and I saved myself $252.00.

Now, if I can maintain this resolve and abstinence for one more day (at a time). PLEASE!!!

I, too, jumped on the Endless Pens FPD sale today and bought a Pilot Custom 743 Verdigris w/ a Falcon nib along with some other, excellently priced (imho) goodies. I did hold back a bit because I expect that other opportunities will present themselves.

Oh, and the discount on my order was 25%, rather than 20%.

Of course, YMMV!

I just went back and double checked my order because the previous poster had mentioned the 20% discount and I thought I might have made a mistake. The 743 that I purchased is now listed as an EF nib. This is not acceptable to me as I am 100% positive that I ordered the Falcon nib. I have responded via email AND a voicemail to their phone line with this message. In the past, my experience with E.P. has been very positive so I am expecting a positive response from them soon.

Just an update:

E.P. contacted me earlier today and the situation has been resolved satisfactorily. It's nice to work with good people in good companies.

I so get this. After buying the vintage Parker 51 and Franklin-Christoph pen, I felt like I should be done buying pens for awhile. But then FPD coupons, and emails. I buy two more. Sigh. At least they came with 1.1mm stub nibs.

“Write” on cake

(This is a good chocolate cake. I recommend it to anyone with a Walmart nearby to buy it. Mmm!)

Well, no actual pen purchases today, but got five repaired, a sixth I got in trade (including six small cartridges of Cross Blue/Black ink which may be need to be reconstituted somewhat) for a recently purchased Snorkel (which unfortunately turned out to be a frankenpen someone tried to turn into a c/c pen :yikes: and is basically a parts pen) and a seventh (the Elliot eyedropper) is going home with Ron Z for restoration.  Plus got several converters for other pens (although it turns out the seller of one was right and I was wrong and the converter WAS too long for the barrel and got yanked off the back of the feed and is now stuck in the barrel.... :wallbash:).

Day 28 of 30 with a Sailor Snowmoon MF. Yes, that's 30 days of one pen getting used for everything: journal, shopping lists, drawing and doodling... We have gotten used to each other and I'm going to miss it.

Will work for pens...

I bought my first MB button filler, a vintage ebonite 322, a few weeks ago.  It needed a lot of work.  I finished putting it back together yesterday and celebrated Fountain Pen Day by filling it with Pelikan Blue-Black.  Very nice writer.

Log book entry

I decided to clean the Monteverde Mountains of the World K2, and fill it with Kaweco Paradise Blue. It is about to be used to write today’s entry.

I didn’t share this perspective but my wife did.  I can’t argue… she’s smarter than me.  I only ordered my first bottle of truly colored ink (purple!) and some more Rhodiarama dot grid pads.  I will be adding the ink to pens I already own and using them to fill those Rhodiarama refills.  That does make for a happy fountain pen day indeed!

Letter written

It was a short one, and no need for a photo. I do feel like I’ve celebrated Fountain Pen Day well. That hasn’t always been the case, so hurray for FPD #12 (started in 2012).

Happy Fountain Pen Day to All!

I finally got around to reading your poems. Very nice, and I liked your word play in the second one.

And I suppose I should post this.

Eat a slice of the FPD cake

Mmm, delicious, and with coffee. Yum yum yum. Final celebration of the day. Hope to see all of you back next year when we celebrate anew. Write happily, even when life throws us the bad stuff.
