List of Jowo/Bock #6 Piston/Vac Fillers?

For a while now I have been on a hunt to find the perfect pen bodies to pair with Flexible Nib Factory Jowo #6/Bock 250 non-converter housings for Pilot, Platinum, and Sailor nibs. I have also realized that I am not a fan of eyedroppering C/C pens, with the extra mess and inconsistent flow often entailed. This has led me to look for non-converter, non-eyedropper (i.e. integrated fillers like piston, vac, etc.) pens that use Jowo #6 or Bock 250 nib housing units. This is a much less common category than the plethora of resin C/C Jowo and Bock pens that can be eyedroppered (if you are willing to deal with the hassle!). I have not been able to find a good list of these, so figured it could be a useful thing to try to compile such a list in one place! Here is what I have found—please add any others you know of!

Jowo #6 Integrated Filling Mechanism Pens:

  • Gravitas Ultemate Vac and Acrylic Vac (vac)
  • Leonardo Momento Magic (piston)
  • Leonardo Momento Zero Grande (piston)
  • Desiderata Daedalus, Soubriquet, Dumka, BAMF (piston, of multiple varieties)
  • Newton Pens piston fillers and syringe fillers (piston, syringe)
  • Lotus Pens "Shikhar", from Peyton Street Pens (piston)
  • Opus 88 Demo, Jazz, Omar (eyedropper w/ shutoff valve)
  • Kyuseido Kakari (pump piston)

Bock 250 Integrated Filling Mechanism Pens:

  • Conid pens (bulk filler)
  • Asvine P36 (piston)

Eyedropper pens w/ shutoff valve like those from Opus 88 are an exception.

As I recall, the TWSBI Vac700R uses a Jowo #6 nib. The fun part will be trying to remove the nib and feed from the pen without breaking the fins on the feed.

Thank you! This was helpful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Does it use a screw-in housing with Jowo threads though? If so, you shouldn’t have to remove the nib and feed from the housing at all to switch in another Jowo housing unit. And if so, it would qualify for the list :-)

Ah thanks for sending that - I knew they sold nib units that came with the whole screw-in section but didn’t know it had a standard Jowo #6 housing inside!

Ah there is the rub. The Vac700R uses a Jowo #6 nib, but the question is if it uses the standard Jowo #6 housing, or if Jowo makes something custom for TWSBI. It maybe worth calling Goulet Pens' tech support. I heard in one of their podcasts that one of their tech support guys loves making Frankenpens. He might have tried out that combination of swapping out the entire housing unit.

Esterbrook just released a new version of the Estie today that has a button piston filler that looks just like the Wing Sung 601. Looks great, but pretty pricey ($275 for limited edition)! They use Jowo #6 units. I'll add it to the list.

I am looking for a piston filler that takes my spare Montblanc 146 nib (Bock 250).

I'm using this setup in a Ranga as an eyedropper. Asvine recently produced the P36 piston filler, which takes a Bock 250.

Pelikan M800 will take a length shortened Bock 250.  Nahvalur pens also take Bock 250 housings.

to add> Nahvalur also

Add lightness and simplicate.

So any nib unit with Bock 250 threading (e.g. FNF Bock housing for another kind of nib) would likely screw right into any Nahvalur? That would add a lot of options.

Incorrect assumption on my part. Nib only. Nahvalur housing and feed are proprietary.

Moonman M800 also take Bock nibs.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Updated list with new additions from Penlux, Esterbrook, Delta, and FWI. Keep 'em coming! I almost added the Conklin Word Gauge and Nozac but realized they do not use Jowo threading (even though their nibs are Jowo).

Jowo #6 Integrated Filling Mechanism Pens:

  • Gravitas Ultemate Vac and Acrylic Vac (vac)
  • Leonardo Momento Magic (piston)
  • Leonardo Momento Zero Grande (piston)
  • Desiderata Daedalus, Soubriquet, Dumka, BAMF (piston, of multiple varieties)
  • Newton Pens piston fillers and syringe fillers (piston, syringe)
  • Lotus Pens "Shikhar", from Peyton Street Pens (piston)
  • Opus 88 Demo, Jazz, Omar (eyedropper w/ shutoff valve)
  • Kyuseido Kakari (pump piston)
  • Penlux Masterpiece and Masterpiece Grande (piston)
  • Esterbrook Estie Raven (button piston similar to Wing Sung 601)
  • Delta Duna (piston)
  • Delta DV (piston)
  • Fine Writing International Scepter (either piston or vac)

Bock 250 Integrated Filling Mechanism Pens:

  • Conid pens (bulk filler)
  • Asvine P36 (piston)
  • Some Opus 88 (Flow, Bela, Flora only)
