FABER-CASTELL 5564 Piston Removal

I've acquired this Faber-Castell 5564 and would like to remove the piston, to better clean and lube, but am unsure how to proceed.

I'm guessing that it unscrews from the barrel with the assistance of a spanner wrench engaging with the single hole in the piston assembly?

If so, is it right or left-hand threaded?

Thanks for any assistance!

Without trying to teach grandma, etc, these old German piston fillers are not TWSBIs, and are definitely not designed for routine disassembly - the only time they should really be taken apart is if they need a new cork/gasket or suffer a piston failure. They certainly don't need routine greasing - which simply wasn't a thing when they were made.

If you think the pen needs more than a good flush through, give it a fill of a good cleaner ink. I like Sailor Gentle/Shikiori Doyou, but I know some people swear by of the Noodlers Eel Rattler Red, which is said to lubricate as well.

I have a 73 that looks the same and it unscrews with a right hand thread.

I used dry heat and made a tool from a 3/4" binder clip.
