KwZ 2023 Meet Me in St. Louis "Missourah Crawdad"

I spotted this ink review on Mountain of Ink and I'm just floored, in such a good way.

Since it was a pen show special I suppose it's all safely residing in ink aficionados' stashes, never to be offered for retail sale, and should be classified with Unobtanium.

But you never know unless you ask so I'm throwing it out into the universe: Does anyone know where I might lay hands on a bottle of this awesome orange ink?spacer.png

Hmmm.  I don't generally like orange inks much, but this one looks interesting....

Aaugh! As a native Missourian, I’m firmly in the correct pronunciation of the last syllable of Missouri sounding like a long E at the end camp.  Still, I wouldn’t mind having any of the St. Louis Pen Show inks. But instead, I wait and wait for Sailor to make the Missouri ink. Wait, and wait, and wait.

I feel you - but this is an orange I'd be happy to put in a pen. KwZ does make a couple of other oranges that might be acceptable with a little dilution.

A friend of mine from college came to my house one time, and my mother said to him, "You're the only person I've ever met from your state who pronounces it 'Missour-EE', not 'Missour-ah".  And he said "That's because I'm from St. Louis -- it's a REAL city!"

Oddly I was just having a similar conversation with the friend who does our yard work for us a little while ago.  And that person said, "I was very confused when my wife said 'New Ver-sigh' and and NOT "New Ver-sales" (which is of course spelled 'Versailles' but NOT pronounced that way around here).  And I said, "Yeah, like the place in NJ (Bogota), which is NOT pronounced 'Bo-ga-TAH' like in South America -- it's pronounced 'Ba-GO-tah'....  And on Saturday I had to explain to WAZE that around here, the place in Western PA (Dubois) is NOT pronounced as it would be in France -- "Doo-BWA" -- but as "DOO-boyz"....

Well, I do really like their IG Mandarin, which oxidizes to more of a light brown....

I’m on the KC side, and grew up in west central Missouri. Never heard the ah sound until later. My name is Lori, and it’s never pronounced as Lora. That’s why I’m stubbornly in the Missouree camp. Versailles is pronounced with a long A here, and Milan has a long I sound. Potosi isn’t pronounced as in South America.  We Americans Americanized pronunciations.

It looks a lot like Monarch.  Fontoplumo shows Monarch as out of stock, unfortunately, but at least they haven't discontinued it.

I’m not certain whether they have officially discontinued it, but Fontoplumo just released two new Sailor x Fontoplumo inks a couple of weeks ago, one of which is orange. (The other is blue.) Frank told me they decided on doing something new (the Sailor ink) instead of continuing with Monarch.

The Sailor x Fontoplumo orange looks like a very nice orange to me, but I only managed to snatch a single sample of it from our ink bar at the Pelikan Hub.

(Edited to clarify that Frank said it was a choice for something new, which turned out to be the Sailor collab, and not to imply that they chose Sailor over KWZ.)

Thank you for the update.  It's the story of my inky life.  Whenever I really, really like an ink it becomes unobtainium.

@kwzi may be able to help us out.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Update: Between my friend and I, we managed to locate a vendor from the St. Louis show who was willing to sell a bottle. I shall emulate now the Great and Mighty Smaug and hoard the stuff jealously.

Also *facepalm* for not thinking to ask KwZ directly.

I have to admit that I thought ahead when I saw the review of Monarch.  At the time I had a "Monarch Tree" in my backyard.  A Monarch Tree is a branch bearing a large number of Monarch Butterfly pupae from caterpillars I had raised.  A day or two after I saw the review I went out there mid-morning and found what is seen in the picture below.  I ended up ordering two bottles of Monarch ink to celebrate getting eight adult Monarch butterflies on the same day.

Would you like to share where, or should I contact KWZ?

Wow, this is impressive. Thank you for doing your wonderful part in helping the Monarch butterflies.
