Great price!!!  Thanks for sharing.  I was trying to decide between this and the deal on the Souveran 1000.

What's the deal on the M1000?

Thanks for reading.  Although I have previously bought FPs from Amazon Japan, through Amazon US, with no problem whatsoever, this Pelikan deal is from  Amazon Germany.

US$432 for a green Pelikan Souveran M1000, plus US$20 for shipping to the US.

PS.  I have previously purchased  a Pelikan M800 from them.  Great deal, good delivery time.

Hi RPA

That's a great price for a green M1000.  It's tempting.

Just ordered from the amazon link at $371. I also ave 2 KOPs 😂 paid signifigantly more for the other 2. Thanks so much for the post! I'll report back on quality when it comes in.

Can others here verify the authenticity of their KOPs bought from the amazon seller?

Real.  I had no problems with Amazon Japan. I bought several pens from them.

Agreed.  If the seller you are asking about is Amazon Japan, that is part of the Amazon corporation.  I've ordered oddles of things from them, over many years, and never had a problem.

I just ordered a KOP from Amazon. I also got a Pilot Custom 823 for around 240 and it is incredible. Seems that Amazon has found a nice grey market for Japanese made pens that saves a LOT of money. Thanks for all the input fellow pen nerds! 🙂

Seems like Amazon refuse to post pens from Japan to the UK/EU... presumably because of all the restrictive import laws.

Simple solution; Amazon.jp

Add lightness and simplicate.

Actually, Japan is one of the few countries with which the post-Brexit UK does have a trade deal in-place.
There isn’t any Import Duty charged by HMRC on pens shipped here from Japan. ‘Only’ the 20% VAT.

The EU also started charging VAT on imported consumer goods as a consequence of Brexit 🙄

If Amazon refuses to post those pens to the UK, I suspect that it is a market-restriction sales policy imposed by the manufacturer, similar to Pilot’s fatwa against selling its non-‘luxury’ pens or non-‘luxury’ inks to us Brits 😠

[About which restrictions I continue to grumble into my beard, like the curmudgeonly old geezer that I undeniably am.]

I just looked at the list-price of a Sailor Pro Gear in black, with rhodium trim, with a 21k nib.

Its price on Amazon.co.jp is (as I type this) a bit over one third of the price that is being asked by the only UK retailer that I found of that pen after an admittedly-brief search.
To be fair, I didn’t progress as far as checking Amazon.co.jp’s shipping costs, or factor-in the UK VAT.

Edit to add:

The addition of the Amazon.co.jp delivery charge and the UK VAT charged on both of those sums pushes the price of the pen that I mentioned up to ‘fully’ half of the sum that the UK retailer charges for it 🙄

The UK have a trade deal, but in practice it's such a pain to cooperate with that most sellers I've dealt with simply refuse. For them to sign up, at least when the scheme launched, it was ludicrous. I haven't checked up on it recently, to see if it is still preposterously onerous to comply with.

Germany is even worse to ship to- even if a company complies with the bureaucratic awfulness, the recipients often get penalised with their items getting impounded by the authorities, with fabricated costs and whatnot involved. Of course you can challenge the unjust charges, but the time and complexity of doing so makes us hate having anything posted to us here from outside of the EU.

The last two times I received to my home in Germany all the proper paperwork was done, nothing was wrong, and I still had the parcels impounded. On one instance they claimed the box was incorrectly labelled- when I collected it (which ended up costing me an hour thanks to parking issues and a queue), the guy serving was like "oh, I can see there wasn't really anything wrong, they just flag lots of parcels without even checking. You can challenge it but it takes forever." They'd even made up a fabricated "real value" for the item without even opening the box. 🤦‍♂️
