Sailor nibs are my favorite.  I like that they are somewhat austere, not flexy, with that famous Sailor #2 pencil feel.  And then there are the KOP nibs.  Hugely bouncy, way wet.  A completely different animal.  Yes, I very much like them, I've got 3 KOPS, but I think they are quite different from the rest of the family.

Two thumbs up   👍👍

What ink and paper are you using?

Top Down:

No tape:  Sailor Manyo Konagi

Blue tape:  Sailor Manyo Nadeshiko

Yellow tape:  Sailor Shikiori Nioi-Sumire

Favorite paper:  Cosmo Air Snow

How does this medium nib compare to a Pelikan fine nib?  thanks

I have 2 M800s with  medium nibs.  One writes like a broad and the other is a regular medium similar to the Sailor KOP medium.

I have a Pelikan M1000 fine that writes like a fire hose! 🤣

Mine too... it's been the never ending hunt for the driest ink...  I thought something was wrong with the fine nib it came with so I bought another one... NO difference.  I don't know why anyone would want that much ink flow.

I have a thing for shading inks, which I collect, so the 'fire hose' M1000 works well for me with inks like Sailor Manyo Haha.

Diamine's Registrar tames the M1000 pretty well.  However, it is an iron gall ink and you need to really keep on top of it, cleaning it regularly.   You can't let the ink sit for a month in the pen.  I have no reason to place the Registrar's ink in the KOP.

Why not send it to one of the many good nibmeisters in the US?

I would be happy to get some pens grind to EFs here in Japan if I could find one to do it. I approached two, none of them bothered to even answer.

I also have a Pelikan M1000F which is way broader than my KoP M.

It's not so much that it's broader, it's the ink flow... 😎

And now $371.

The nib alone is worth it (says the owner of three KOPs 😆)!

Received mine the other day and I am in love with it.  Its easily my favorite pen now.  The nib is amazing!!   I would like to the get one of the urushi versions.  Amazon Japan does not seem to carry the urushi.  Any suggestions for Japanese retails who ship to US that sell these?  thanks

You could try pensachi.com? I know that Sekaido https://www.sekaido.co.jp stocks the big Pilot Custom Urushi in their shops but so far I haven't been able to find it in the webshop.
