Hobonichi Plain notebooks (with ‘graph’ grid ruling in various colours) on Amazon AU in stock and…

I believe these are the last Hobonichi products to use the ‘old’ Tomoe River 52gsm paper produced on Tomoegawa's since-decommissioned ‘machine number 7’, as stocks of the paper are being run out:

Compared to ordering direct from Hobonichi:

and there is a maximum of ten units per product per order — which means, even with ten of the A5 and ten of the A6 Plain notebooks, the total order value of $300 would still fail to qualify for free shipping to Australia. Shipping charges are $42 for one book, $52 for ten A6 books, $58 for ten A5 books, and $66 for the two lots of ten books.

If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Ah, I finally found the source of that information.

I’m not a fan of grid paper,

If it's finer than 4mm square (which it is, in the case of the Hobonichi), you can pretty much just ignore it unless you're intentionally drawing a graph or some such. I have some Life×kleid Noble notebooks with 2mm square grid lines printed on it, and I really just have to ignore the lines… especially when they're too fine for me to really see, as-is, with my deteriorating vision. The pale blue just blends into the background, until I'm so close that I'm smelling the paper.

That said, I'm hoping the printed lines on the Hobonichi Plain notebooks won't be too distracting visually. I can only trust they won't be. My personal preference is for dot grid, and at Nitoms STALOGY's level of greyness/ and faintness.

@A Smug Dill that’s good to know.
My main experience is with Rhodia graph paper. I’ve tried to stay inside the grid line, but eventually I drift down to the wrong line. So smaller, and less dark would be better. I prefer lined or ruled.  Dotted next.

However, I have to get along with graph paper because I have a lot of Field Notes with it. I did manage with the Travelers Notebook grid/graph paper.

I checked Amazon again, thinking maybe I’d cancel my order of A6 notebooks, and get the A5. It isn’t as deeply discounted. Then I decided to check if they had the A6 cover in apple cinnamon. They did. So, that got ordered for the two A6 notebooks ordered earlier.

My preference is for grids, and I have a a few of these in both A5 & A6.  I usually stick within the grid for finer nibs and use every other line for larger nibs, but sometimes just ignore the grids all together.

The Hobonichi apple cinnamon A6 size cover arrived today, as did the clear covers I ordered for it and an A5 cover.  I plan on putting NASA stickers I have on them. Finally, I’ll have a way to use those as they are on the big side.

Well darn. It seems like now I have to locate the NASA stickers again. I have both versions of their logo. That would be the meatball and the worm as they have been nicknamed.

I put this in the sad pathetic folder,

That is most interesting! In the Amazon listing (for item with identifier B07VYTLBNH in the URL) you posted, 2023 Accessories is explicitly stated in the title; whereas I had to discover it for myself from the Amazon.co.jp invoice accompanying the orders I placed for the same item (with the same identifier), but which only had the title of ”Hobonichi Graph Notebook Cousin”, on Amazon.com.au.

Furthermore, there are two separate listings on Amazon.com for the same item — both citing manufacturer's part number TTE1901N549PT — and the seller for the other one is purportedly Hobonichi's official presence on Amazon.

I think the customer can reasonably expect that, if ordering the 2023 version, the notebooks are guaranteed to have the ‘old’ Tomoe River paper produced by Tomoegawa's machine number 7, whereas there may be some doubt as to which paper units from a newer batch will have, and whether Hobonichi would make an announcement and/or change the manufacturer's part number to reflect the difference.

My two A6 Hobonichi notebooks arrived today. I could put both in the A6 cover, but one fits well. I doubt I’d use two at a time.

The rest of the notebooks I ordered arrived Wednesday. The box had the two graph A5 Hobonichi notebooks, and the two sets of Snoopy B5 notebooks from Amazon Japan.

I ordered 12 of the A6 Hobonichi in 2 orders, and they arrived by both Fed Ex and DHL in a total of 5 boxes, most quite large boxes.  And the largest of them all was for 1 A6 notebook, sent 2 day delivery by DHL.  Amazon Japan is often stupid in their shipping decisions.
