namiki Namiki White Rabbit Limited Edition 2023

To celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Namiki group, Pilot Namiki is launching this White Rabbit Emperor limited edition '23, made in Shishiai-Togidashi maki-e, the most complex technique of this ancestral art. Since Antiquity, rabbits have been interpreted as auspicious creatures, and the artisan Masahiro Yamada decided to stage the legend of the white rabbit of Inaba and the deity Okuninushi on a background of lacquer and platinum powder. Beautiful work of art!!

Not a pen for me (between the size, the [presumed] nosebleed price, and the [also presumed] urushi finish).  But I can admire it from a distance as the breathtaking work of art most maki-e pens are....

Although admittedly, when I saw the header for this thread I immediately thought "Alice in Wonderland".....

I'll admit that I didn't think in those terms -- I was more going along the lines of the old Disney animated movie....

And, well, a somewhat goofy cover of the White Rabbit's song from that movie....   (Yes, it exists .  No, I DON'T know why anyone involved thought it was a remotely good idea....  Or how much in the way of drugs and alcohol were involved in the decision making process.... )
