End of Parker cartridge stuck in fountain pen

So what basically happened is that the blue end (which is pierced to allow ink to flow) got detached from the cartridge. When i took out the cartridge, the end stayed.

What I tried is to soak that part in water, and use a wood screw to get it out. It doesnt work.

How can I get this out? Its stuck quite tightly I think.

My pen is Parker Beta Neo CT Fountain pen.

I’m surprised that the wood screw didn’t work, but now that I think about it perhaps inserting the screw actually caused the cartridge to expand. Perhaps some dental tool or concoct a hooked wire?

I dont really have a dental tool. I will try using a heated hooked wire or needle put on flame, so that it pierces the remnant and sticks to it and brings it back. Only thing is that then the cartridge end will be almost useless. But better than ruining a pen. Thanks.

Anyways, are there any techniques which are also guarenteed to work?

Thanks again

In the past I've used a paperclip - straighten out the outer cut end by 180 degrees to be parallel to the main body, and bend a few mm at its end to form a 90 degree right angled hook. The rest of the paperclip then becomes a handle to hold it by when you put the hook into the visible open end of the recalcitrant cartridge.

When you've used it put it in your toolbox for next time 🙂

@xylen -- Good to know you got it out.  I would have suggested maybe tweezers.

I had problems with a converter getting stuck in the barrel of the Urban from Hell, but fortunately had paid for the extended warranty so sent it back to Parker.

Of course I had to jump through hoops to mail it back to them, including carefully packaging it up in a box.  Only to have it sent back in a plastic tube in a padded envelope, with a snotty note saying I'd used the "wrong" converter (one of the older, squeeze style ones, and it was too big for the barrel -- but that was all I could find at the time locally).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks! If this ever happens again, I will try.

That was unfortunate. Thanks for the help though.

P.S. my cartridge's end was stuck in the grip, not the barrel. My cartridges have been stuck in the barrel aswell when I used some cheap 'jumbo' sort of cartridges, but I just used pliers to pull it out as the mouth of the cartridge was still fairly outside the barrel.
