Custom Lamy Box MkII

Some time ago, I made myself a custom box to hold my Lamy pens. There, I used dark and light (Queensland walnut and Queensland maple) timbers for the inlay to maximise the contrast of the logos. Whilst that looks good on photographs, for a box sitting on my desk, I prefer a more subtle combination of colours. This time I chose two timbers of warm tones, with the contrast being provided by the grain (burl for the background, straight grain for the Lamy logo).

For those wanting to get into inlay work, there’s no better logo to start with than the Lamy logo, because it consists purely of straight lines.

Photo 1 shows the custom pen box with the lid removed. The individual trays are simple cardboard strips cut from a cereal package and bent into shapearound a metal rod.
